Not really a music person outside of the classical music world (and the Beatles who rock). This year I am going to try and listen to one new album a day. I shall Chronicle my journeys here. Feel free to suggest things. #NewYearNewMusic
First listen: Lynryd Skynyrd. Don't know them outside of Sweet Home Alabama. Really liked Tuesday's Gone
#2 Recommended by a friend: Agtaetis Byrjun by Sigur Ros.
That was interesting. Sigur Ros is an Icelandic band. The music was very dreamy with an Brian Eno ambient quality. Probably better if you were on psychedelics (guess...no first hand experience).
#3 - Pressure Drop by Toots and the Maytals - Reggae...interesting never listened any of this before.
Pressure drop as fun. Love their version of Country roads take me home.
#3 Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf #NewYearNewMusic
Love the title track. Most of the rest of the album is okay. Nothing Special.
Correct Bat out of Hell was #4 #5 is "An Awesome Wave" by Alt J.
An Awseome Wave was interesting…not really my cup of tea. Album #6 Of 2022 is Rubber Factory by The Black Keys.
Album #7 was the Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd. That was interesting. Looking forward to future albums by then. Album #8 is The Giant is Awakened by The Horace Tapscott Quintet. #NewYearNewMusic
Album #9 is Wildewoman by the band Lucius. This album slaps. #NewYearNewMusic
Today I am listening to Traveler by Chris Stapleton. #NewYearNewMuisc
Next up is Psychic Warfare by Clutch! #NewYearNewMusic
Album #12 was Nudes by Lucius. Good...still not as great as Wildewoman but a solid album. #NewYearNewMusic
Album #13 is Appetite for Destruction by Guns N' Roses. #NewYearNewMusic
Album #14 is Aerosmith's self titled debut.
Time to switch it up a bit Album #15 is Good Times By Willie Nelson. Question is pot smoking mandatory if listening to Willie? #NewYearNewMusic
Missed an new album on Friday. Saturday I listened to Up From Below by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros for Album #16. Album #17 is Nina Simone sings the blues!
#18 was Creedence Clearwater Revival's self titled debut. I really like Creedence but was pretty apathetic about this one. #19 is The White Stripes self titled debut. Question: Does Ralph Nader get a writing credit on "The Big Three Killed My Baby".
#20 is Born On The Bayou also by Creedence Clearwater Revival. #NewYearNewMusic
#21 is The Presidents of the United States 10th anniversary album. #NewYearNewMusic
#22 Is U2's album Boy. I like U2 in general but if this was the only thing I had heard I would have thought them pretty generic. Not bad just not memorable. #NewYearNewMusic #U2
#23 Is the album Sundowning by Sleep Token.
#24 Time-Sweetened Lies by Antsy McClain
#25 Rumors By Fleetwood Mac
#NewYearNewMusic
#26 Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
#27 The Last Honky Tonk Hero by Mike Dawson and The Smokin Kills. (Really cool album)
#28 BB King Live at Cook Country Jail
#29 was Good Greif by Lucius
#30 is Alphabet by Phoenix #NewYearNewMusic
Went on a little Zeppelin run:
#31 was Zeppelin II
#32 was Zeppelin III
#33 was Zeppelin IV

#NewYearNewMusic
#34 Mixing it up a bit with Eat a Peach by the Allman Brothers
#35 Deepchord - Morals and Dogma (Decided to throw in some ambient music. This one is dark. Like the music played in the waiting room of a torture chamber).
#36 Seven + Mary by Rainbow Kitten Surprise
#36 is Tomorrow was the Golden Age by Bing and Ruth
#37 is American Beauty by the Grateful Dead (never listened to them before)

#NewYearNewMusic

This is the sonic equivalent of leaving the sauna and jumping in the icy plunge bath...something a crazy Swede like @ThomasLassi would probably do.
Turns out this album Sleep is 8hours and 22 minutes long and consists of 204 songs! So by far the longest album. It is nice as background though.
#85 was In an Aeroplane over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel
#86 is 100 Acres of Sycamores by Fionn Rogan
