Have to mute this soon, but thank you everyone for helping spread the word about SaferProducts.gov. You're all great. Even the people who are just like, "Interesting." That's succinct, Johnson. We'll take it, friend. See you at the potluck for real birds.
Epilogue.

Well, well, well. If it isn't our old nemesis deadly heatwave.
Including all the other heatwave dangers, extended power outages may lead to people using portable generators. If you have a generator at home, make sure your carbon monoxide alarms are working. Put your generator 20ft away from any windows/vents.
If you're headed to the pool, make sure you assign a Water Watcher. This is someone who is watching the kids at all times and not looking at their phone. Make sure your pool barriers (fences, etc.) are in place.
It was a year of large spiders, large moths, large eagles and a wall of ducks. A year of art, squirrels, monsters, and Knife Ghosts. It was a year of posting with you all on X. The best year yet. And now, for your consideration, our favorite safety graphics made in 2024...
Demonstrations are getting set up for our fireworks safety press conference. This is the first time we've been back on the National Mall in three years. Today we'll show you what not to do and how to #CelebrateSafely
Many of these demonstrations are based on real life incidents as found in CPSC annual fireworks injuries and deaths report. Data from that report (and the full incident descriptions) will be made available on . https://t.co/DQnDV8izCdCPSC.gov
A detective stands under a streetlight. In the distance is a giant ball of dryer lint standing under another streetlight. The detective says, "I could feel it. Waiting. Mocking me.
"You can't see me, John. You can't see me." But, I could see it. Standing there. Silent and still. Glistening from polyester fibers and glitter. A killer waiting for just the right moment, the right temperature, to light - and burn down my world.
As I stared down the mass I heard my mother's words. Fait. Distant. The call of a mourning dove reaching me through the dark, "Always clean your dryer vent after every use, John. Clean the dyer exhaust duct periodically." You were right, mom. Now, I know.
In 2019, we found out some of our oldest PSAs, many unseen for decades, would not be saved permanently in the National Archives. We had a choice - save them or send them to a lonely landfill somewhere.
We saved them all.
Now, we're publishing them online for the first time. 🧵
The PSAs cover a range of subjects across the agency’s jurisdiction including carbon monoxide safety, crib safety, poison prevention, gas can safety, and toy safety among others.
Some of the PSAs feature familiar faces such as the cast of M*A*S*H, NFL football legend Rosie Greer, and well-known character actor Louis Nye:
If you're frying your turkey this year, make sure it is thawed. Follow the manufacturer instructions for using your fryer. Only fry a turkey outside and away from your home. Never use turkey fryers in the garage or on the porch, Turkey America!
