Well, well, well. If it isn't our old nemesis deadly heatwave.
Including all the other heatwave dangers, extended power outages may lead to people using portable generators. If you have a generator at home, make sure your carbon monoxide alarms are working. Put your generator 20ft away from any windows/vents.

A detective stands under a streetlight. In the distance is a giant ball of dryer lint standing under another streetlight. The detective says, "I could feel it. Waiting. Mocking me.
"You can't see me, John. You can't see me." But, I could see it. Standing there. Silent and still. Glistening from polyester fibers and glitter. A killer waiting for just the right moment, the right temperature, to light - and burn down my world.

In 2019, we found out some of our oldest PSAs, many unseen for decades, would not be saved permanently in the National Archives. We had a choice - save them or send them to a lonely landfill somewhere.
We saved them all.
Now, we're publishing them online for the first time. 🧵
The PSAs cover a range of subjects across the agency’s jurisdiction including carbon monoxide safety, crib safety, poison prevention, gas can safety, and toy safety among others.

CPSC Approves New Federal Safety Standard for Magnets to Prevent Deaths and Serious Injuries from High-Powered Magnet Ingestion: bit.ly/3KS2g8y
When high-powered magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other, or to other material that attracts to magnets, through internal body tissue. This can result in perforations, twisting and/or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning and death.
"What if the nine inches of safe playground surfacing *is* a Megalodon?"
Unfortunately, we recommend mulch or wood chips for the safest playground impact surfacing.

Quick civics "who does what" this am:
If a product you own unexpectedly blows up, lights something on fire, breaks dangerously, or does anything dangerous, really - that's us (CPSC). Report those kinds of issues on SaferProducts.gov
If you think a business is engaging in potentially unfair business practices (warranty issues, fraud, etc), that's @FTC. Their reporting tools are here - ftc.gov

If you tweet sarcasm at us, but make a typo, so you delete the original tweet and follow up with a second tweet that has perfect grammar, just know we deeply respect that effort. Also, check your smoke alarm batteries.
This was our contribution to today's internet, so we get where you're coming from:
