Cruz allowed Mueller/Weissmann to accuse the Trump campaign of trying to obtain Hillary's emails when it was a member of his campaign leading the effort.
Cruz could have taken some of the heat off of President Trump by admitting this, but he chose not to.

Trump didn't point out the Cruz campaign was leading the way in attempting to get HRC's emails because Trump needed every Republican vote in Congress he could muster.
Does Cruz beat Beto without Trump's enthusiastic endorsement?

Let me say that I've been very encouraged by the outrage shown by GOP base at Cruz's remarks.
The GOPe will try to distract you by pointing to AOC. But you have no power to do anything about her. She's getting re-elected no matter how angry she makes you.
Your power lies in your ability to hold elected Republicans accountable. Don't forget that.

Shearer's memo emphasizes Trump's mistreatment of women.
"This guy has mental issues with women."

According to Glenn Simpson's & Peter Fritsch's book, Crime in Progress, Marc Elias first met with them on April 20, 2016, the day after Donald Trump won the New York primary.
He loved their pitch and agreed to contract with them, but formalizing the agreement took "weeks."
