Dr Denis McCauley, Chairman of the Irish Medical Association on radio just now has stated that he is firmly opposed to making vaccines mandatory. He is more in favour of "a large carrot and small stick approach" as the uptake to the vaccine rollout in Ireland has been excellent.
His comments come in the wake of the Irish Supreme Court's examination of the case for mandatory vaccines. Their view is the benchmark for legalising mandatory vaccines would have to be very significant and one that takes into account bodily autonomy for it to prove justifiable.
Any Irish Supreme Court decision in favour of mandatory vaccines would also have to require a new law to be passed which would open up a very large debate and strong resistance from various quarters that may prove counterproductive to gaining sufficient public support.
Dr McCauley did add that there may be separate case for requiring health care staff to be vaccinated but again it would be preferable if it remained a voluntary decision.

Worth taking on board unless of course you are still blind and singing from the same hymn sheet as the corrupt politicians and those medical advisers who have shares in the vaccines! 🤨
The above tweet from James Melville only makes sense if you realise and accept the context it was referring to. The vaccine doesn’t stop transmission of the virus only alleviates the symptoms. Therefore his tweet wouldn’t be a valid criticism if taken as such. However..👇
On the other hand.. the whole point of Covid Passports was to restrict entrance to nightclubs to ONLY the vaccinated thus according to government rationale used to support their introduction, reducing the spread of the virus.

On the northern side, Professor Sir Michael McBride was on radio earlier today explaining why getting the booster was important in the fight against Covid. He seemed to be alluding to herd immunity by vaccination reducing the incidence of Covid over time.
His argument certainly was convincing up to the point that he more or less accepted that we will have to learn to live with Covid as it will be here for many years if not for good and will probably result in it transmitting symptoms of average flu like proportions at worst.
What the Northern Ireland Chief Medical Officer didn't address was whether we will therefore require constant repeat Covid vaccinations ad infinitum. A lot more money for the Big Pharmaceutical companies???

Having stood up for human rights for 40 years despite harassment from foreign governments who took exception to my activism in the face of torture, detention without trial, gender discrimination and targeting the gay community. I welcome todays decision in the Australian court.
I also applaud Djokovic for having the gutsy determination and faith in his right to play that endured despite the gruelling interrogation he received whilst imprisoned against his will. There is no excuse for how he was treated. He is entitled to demand full reparation by law!
This legal case should not be seen as an anti-vaccine stance, it is simply a victory for voluntary vaccinations which I support. The state does not have the right to override anyone’s human right to refuse any medical procedure.

The longer the Brexit farce goes on the further apart the interests of the home nations are becoming. Full independence for Scotland and NI in a UI is the only way they can get rid of the stench of corruption and disrespect for our European neighbours that pervades Westminster.
Ireland and Scotland no longer need to be tramelled with the outdated chains of an unequal relationship with any country, especially one that is in rapid decline. Its time Westminster was honest with its unionist cronies and declared a Scottish referendum and Irish border poll.
The NIP is here to stay and English Tory politicians need stop causing damage to the Good Friday Agreement by making empty threats to trigger Article 16. They are liars to promise anything else than what they signed up to other than hold another UK referendum on Brexit.

Boris Johnson is nothing more than a front man for the powerful interests that govern the UK irrespective of how bungling or disastrous a figure he is is. Until the electorate stop voting for the Tories..period, we will have more of the same should he resign.
If Johnson goes, it will be Pratell or Sunak or some other privileged member of the Tory elite with extremist ring wing policies that emerges from the shadows to lead the party and the country. The circle of corruption will continue unabated and we will be no better off. 🙄😠
There will still be the same stinking attitude to International Agreements, parliamentary democracy, buddy contracts and mistreatment of refugees, human rights and justice for the Grenfell survivors and others living in unsafe and unsuitable accommodation.

Just in from Liberty UK...the British government is set to scrap our Human Rights Act and violate many of the rights we took for granted under the smokescreen of this Pandemic. The clock is ticking down and in two weeks time it will be make or break for standing up to tyranny!!
This is a Putin-like Power grab that will give the British government unparalleled power to abuse the limits of its authority, making it virtually untouchable.
Whilst it focuses our minds solely on Covid, it is hard at work behind the scenes ripping up our present day Magna Carta like the tyrants of old. What will you say got your children or grandchildren when they ask you down the line what you did to protect their human rights??
