To everyone saying "it's not eugenics" or "she didn't mean it THAT way":
It's really quite simple. She's the fucking CDC director. If one of the most important and powerful science communicators on the planet meant something else, she could say that.
If she meant something else, she could communicate that, in so many different ways- tweets, statements, interviews..... She has a lot of options.
If she meant something else, she should have the training to understand why the actual words out of her mouth would make some people feel dehumanized, and/or terrified, and/or hurt, and/or angry, etc. And then choose better words.
If she truly meant something else, she could demonstrate that by pointing to the things she & the Biden administration have done in the last year that show that they care very deeply about the lives of disabled people.
But she hasn't, because that would be difficult for her.
If you want to defend her, don't tell us what YOU think she ~meant~.
I no longer care what she meant, I no longer care what's in her heart, if I ever cared.
What is she doing to keep my community alive? What is she doing to keep me alive?
