Why the Metaverse will change the way we live and how it will make us extremely happy and sad at the same time.
π§΅π
To understand this we first need to understand what we humans strive for?
We strive for the experiences. It's not the money that we work for but it's the experiences that we can buy with that money. For example a trip abroad or adventure sports.
But how does it relate to the Metaverse?
In the Metaverse, you will be able to create the same experiences (or even better experiences) while sitting at your home and it will cost significantly less amount of money.
For example, you can create a space in the metaverse that is the duplicate of Paris and you can visit there along with your friends and family.
Or you can also create experiences that otherwise would not be possible in real life. For example, imagine creating your own palace or castle in the Metaverse and living the life of a King/Queen.
Take a look at some of the digital spaces that Meta revealed in their keynote. Wouldn't it be amazing to experience these spaces? And having your own like these.
The possibilities here are endless. It will also make education more fun. How?
Imagine instead of showing the solar system to students in the books, showing it to them in the Metaverse. Or instead of making them read the boring history books, let them experience the past.
You will be able to watch live concerts with your friend who's sitting abroad or you will be able to not only buy the clothes but actually try them in the Metaverse.
But how will the Metaverse make us sad?
Metaverse comes with a cost. It would result in increased dopamine levels in humans.
(Dopamine is the feel-good hormone)
Dopamine is released by our body when we do something exciting or see something marvellous. It is also released by the body (in high amounts) on the intake of drugs.
It makes us feel good.
The Metaverse will result in increased dopamine levels in humans and those increased levels will become the new normal for us.
It will act as a drug for us.
Everything in real life would seem dull and boring.
How can we tackle this problem?
As long as we live in the Metaverse for a limited amount of time, It will be fine.
But if we get addicted to it then it will be a problem for us.

A lot of people find Big O scary but one should know it to determine the efficiency of algorithms, so I wrote a thread explaining Big O notation π§΅π
First of all, what is Big O?
It is the way of determining the performance of algorithms as the input grows bigger and bigger.
In other words, how much time and space the algorithm would take to execute as the input grows larger.
Why do we care?
Big O is needed so that we can optimize code so that it would deliver fast performance even when millions of people are using the application at the same time.
Also, it is very important to know about Big O in technical interviews.
