I've built more than 6 SaaS these last 6 years. βš™οΈ

They didn't all succeed. πŸ˜…

Today I'm sharing 8 tips that will save you time and money.

This is for all #IndieHackers

πŸ‘‡
1/ Finding a SaaS Idea in 5 minutes

You need to go for problems. Not ideas

1. Choose a niche
2. Join Facebook Groups about that niche
3. Read all the posts you can find.
4. Ask yourself: "What is the problem here?"

Some examples where you can think about a problemπŸ‘‡
2/ Validating your SaaS in 5 minutes

This is crucial before working on your SaaS.

1. Go to Facebook Groups where your target is
2. Design or pay someone to design what your app should look like
3. Ask people if they want what you offer

Some examples πŸ‘‡
3/ The best way feedback, reviews, interviews from your users

It's always hard to get these.

1. Reach out to your users when they are on the dashboard
2. Tell them you found a way to optimize their account
3. Ask for your review/interview when you helped them

ExampleπŸ‘‡
4/ Use the power of SaaS valuation

You can definitely build a micro-saas. Sell it and make something bigger with a team.

1. Make a SaaS
2. Grow it to 5K/month alone
3. Automate it
4. Sell it for 200K+ on microacquire

Then you can use that money for something bigger
5/ Find a Shopify App Idea in 5 minutes

Just find problems in other apps.

1. Go to Shopify App Store
2. Open the reviews of big apps
3. Go for reviews with 3 stars

They will tell you what needs to be improved
6/ How to get more leads with content

You don't have to build content only for your target users.

1. Think about all your achievements
2. Write about it in a blog post
3. Post it on Twitter/Facebook Groups/IndieHackers

It will help your company branding
7/ Easy framework to follow when you build a SaaS

You can build a successful SaaS just by following this.

1. Acquisition β†’ Get new users
2. Activation β†’ Onboard users
3. Retention β†’ Keep them
4. Referral β†’ Increase word of mouth
5. Revenue β†’ Make money

Improve each.
8/ How to get a reply from an influencer

They have a lot of followers. And a lot of messages. So they won't see your message.

1. Find all their other social networks
2. Contact them where they have fewer followers
3. Follow-up on other social networks

I've used that!

Why is my Shopify App stuck at $57,000 MRR?

If it didn't happen to you yet, it will.

And here is why: πŸ‘‡πŸ§΅ Image
Growth isn't linear.

You can be stuck at some point but still grow.

I'm currently stuck at $57K after growing like crazy and there are many reasons.
1. Seasonality

For some Shopify Apps, we notice seasonality.

For us it's as follows:

February, March β†’ Not so good
April, May, June, July, August β†’ Good
October, November β†’ Incredible
December, January β†’ Really bad

Getting 10 early users can boost your Shopify App. πŸš€

But they can be hard to get.

Here is the method you can use in 2024: πŸ‘‡
I need to tell you, we’re not going to click on a magic button to find the 10 users in a day.

Here I’m teaching you the real method.

The boring one.

But the one that works.
From 0 to 100 users you need to be prepared to get the users one by one.

But think about it.

You spend 2-3 months doing it and then you’ll have Compound interest

I own 2 Shopify Apps. And it makes me $650,000 per year.

If you're interested in Shopify Apps

Here is how I would start again today πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡
I started in May 2020 with 1 App and quickly grew to $25,000 MRR in less than a year.

Then I built a second Shopify App and today both apps are making $54,000 per month.

But the first app brings 95% of the revenue.
1) Finding needs

Don't find "ideas". Find problems.

Problems make the best apps.

I grew my SaaS company from 0 to $45,000 MRR.

One tool helped me: Mixpanel

That's how I took my conversion rate from 7 to 45% πŸ”₯

Here are 8 metrics you should IMMEDIATELY track: πŸ‘‡πŸ§΅ Image
Mixpanel is a tool that allows you to track EVERY ACTION from your users.

From a click to a feature used.

And when you get ton of data, you can quickly understand a few things.

Here is what I track on Mixpanel.
1. Every action

That's the first thing you should track. Every action from your users

- Clicks on links
- Opening a page
- Updating something

And try to attach properties, for example on a click link, add the link they clicked on.

It will help you analyze everything.

I built 5 Shopify Apps and I'm currently making $46K per month πŸ’°

Yesterday someone asked me how I'd do it again today.

Here is the 11-step strategy I would use: πŸ‘‡πŸ§΅
I built 5 Shopify Apps but 2 are still up. The others failed (It was in 2017 - 2018)

And for the 2 Apps I used Facebook groups to get initial tractions.

But today groups are a bit dead.

So here is the new process I would probably use πŸ‘‡
1- Finding problems (2 months)

I would go on Twitter/Linkedin and engage daily with merchants.

My goal would be to have 10 Shopify merchants as early users to try my future Shopify App.

I would talk to them to find out what other apps they use and what problems they have

David just reached $100K MRR. And hit 1 million users in 9 months.

At the same time he was fighting cancer 🀯

Here is the incredible story and the strategy he used to grow: πŸ‘‡πŸ§΅
@Davidjpark96 you're such an inspiration

So I have to tell your story!

We never had a call together, but I'd love to πŸ’ͺ

Here is the story.
In 2022 (If not in 2021?) David was diagnosed with cancer.

And also broke up with his girlfriend.

When everyone would feel completely down, David kept working on his startup Jenni AI.
