If Eternals reveals that MCU Thanos *is* still Starfox's brother, and Starfox *is* an Eternal... there is suddenly a much better (still messed up but less nonsensical) motive that Thanos could have had and I don't know if I'm rooting for that.

Like, obviously the Russo brothers didn't envision their Thanos as trying to cull the universe in order to slow the Celestial maturation rate and it would be a bit ham-fisted to try to make that his Secret Retroactive Real Motivation.
Buuuuuut while it would be bad storytelling to try to make it fit in now... it would have been better storytelling if it had always been there, and it's not like the MCU hasn't ignored previous characterization and continuity to keep things moving forward.
Like, once Thanos became a character with a presence in the narrative, everything having to do with him in stingers was ignored. And his presence in Guardians was so Gnomic that there wasn't much to ignore or incorporate, in terms of motivation.
This is my favorite read on the character: psychological sunk cost of having destroyed his own planet in a quest to prove he alone could save it left him unable to quit replicating his greatest failure.

The What If? is a good point. Also the implication there that T'Challa mostly turned him by being willing to listen (and probably recognizing it was pointless to debate the morality or practicality of it directly, so he didn't bother.)

Anyway, I haven't gathered there's much more new Thanos lore dropped than I alluded to in my first tweet (note: I am not asking) but I will be interested to see if there's anything else in the movie that could point to this.
I likely will not be watching it any earlier than tomorrow, though. While I'm the rare person who has been waiting for an Eternals movie for about two and a half decades, I want to watch it together with my family and tonight is the Starstruck Odyssey premiere on Dropout.
Also, if they *don't* do anything with Thanos being an Eternal than I would prefer they keep him as being a non-Eternal native of Titan. Have the "brother" thing with Eros be like sworn brothers, battle brothers, bros, etc.
