New fresh Hell. Hennepin County Jail is now refusing to book & hold suspects that only have warrants outside of HennCo. Normally, suspects would be booked and held for transport to the county where the warrant exists. Now, unless another jail will take them, they will be freed.
.
EXPLAINER
Meaning, Hennepin County Jail will only intake suspects that have warrants or new charges IN Hennepin County.
Unless another local jail will take the suspect for a transport hold (like Ramsey or Anoka County), the suspect will be freed by the arresting agency/city.
.
Copy of a memo that reportedly went out to MPD supervisors.
NOTE: The audio above was from a city outside of Minneapolis, so the info is likely based on the same type of memo their police department received.
.
The sheriff claims their Transport Unit is working with arresting agencies to take the arrested party to the (seven) county jail unit where the warrant was issued. Which was not made clear in either the audio transmitted to the officer or the memo provided (we posted both).

Oh, another workgroup has been launched. This time by @HennepinAtty Mike Freeman as he attempts to deflect blame and pretend he's not significantly responsible for the #TwinCities being overrun by violence and repeat offenders.
.
Of course he's got the always-available grifters Harding Smith and Jerry McAfee 🙄🤡
.
Also, Mike, do your job on ALL crime, not just your new pet project of carjackings. Other non-violent and property crimes significantly impact victims' lives and inflict significant costs to society, including auto thefts, burglaries, catalytic converter thefts. @HennepinAtty
