There is trued madness in the medical and scientific community. They want to categorize you as a "vaxxer" or "anti-vaxxer". All medical decisions should be guided NOT by absolutes but by risk/benefit analysis. 1/
I highly encourage older and at-risk patients (multiple medical problems) to get vaccinated and boosted.
The vaccines significantly reduce the risk of hospitalization and death in higher-risk groups.
I do not encourage (nor discourage) children or younger people to get vaccinated. Why? They are at low risk. For the vast majority, Covid is nothing but the flu. With Omicron now being > 95% of Covid, this risk is even further reduced.
Given that almost everyone will be exposed to Omicron (it is so highly infectious) most will develop natural immunity to Omicron which provides both humoral immunity- B cell and longer-acting T cells- and mucosal immunity through IgA- which does not exist with vaccines.
Given that Omicron is weak and will infect most people on earth- even those fully vaccinated- it is quite possible that it will act as a natural vaccine for children and young adults who are already at low risk.
Given that vaccines do not block the transmission of virus from one person to another- I don't see a justification to mandate vaccines for young/children and or place vaccine mandates on them that can reduce their need to socialize.
We need to do a risk/ benefit analysis on all!
*TRUE madness

Notes from a call with Edward Ryan MD, Director of International Infectious Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital
(exactly what I've been saying):
1. Close to 100% of the positive cases in MA are Omicron. Delta is almost completely gone from New England.
2. This surge will peak sometime between 1/10 and 1/21 and then begin a quick downhill journey of two to four weeks.
3. We will end up with a 20-50% positive rate.
4. February will be clean up mode, March will begin to return to "normal".
5. Omicron lives in your nose and upper respiratory area which is what makes it so contagious. It isn't able to bond with your lungs like the other variants.
They said if you get vaccinated:
*You will not get Covid.
*You will not transmit Covid.
*You will not need multiple boosters.
*You will end the pandemic.
*You will have more protection for variants than if you overcome Covid.
ALL WRONG!
I'm PRO-VAX, but let's tell the truth:
If you get vaccinated, you will more likely not end up in the hospital, intubated, and will be less likely to die.
You can still get Covid.
You can still transmit Covid.
You will certainly get variants.
You will need boosters.
Furthermore...
The strongest protection comes from natural immunity (having had Covid, and recovered) plus one shot of vaccine. This is stronger than even three shots.
Yet, governments and medical community still avoid talking about natural immunity and ONLY push the vaccine. Why?!
I'm getting requests to do TV, newspaper and radio interviews. I won't. But, for those interested, here are my basic thoughts:
1- Omicron is nothing more than a seasonal cold virus. Now we have 5 coronaviruses that will be around.
2- There is little we can do to stop this virus from infecting 80% + of the population. Masks. Vaccine card mandates will make no difference.
3- Sure, people who are vaccinated have a much lower chance of dying or getting hospitalized.
4- Vaccinated people still get infected and pass the virus to others.
It's important to be honest about the role of the vaccines because the authorities were all wrong in saying you won't get variants and you won't pass variants. Clearly.
