We know that we're on a league of our own when it comes to Matatu/PSV culture. We're protected by cartels & HOS so we go HAM
But we're not alone. There're countries that also go HAM.
Here are 6 of the best.
6.INDIA
India is a really populous country. They're also mainly Hindu & have many gods.
The Indians believe that road safety is up to the gods and nothing more. As such their vehicles are more temples and less safety.
And so their mobile temples are gorgeous
5. GUATEMALA CHICKEN BUS
The Guatemala are a colourful people, they're just as beautiful and vibrant as the Samburu of Kenya.
As such they show their love for colour in their clothes, possessions and buses. This is evident in how well they colour their PSV'S
4. PAKISTAN
The Pakistani & India are lifelong enemies. As such they're always trying to outdo each other on matters war, military, women & weirdly... Colour.
The Pakistani outdo India and are always going extra to stamp that fact
3. JAPANESE BOSOZUKU
The Japanese are a crazy people, they have 2 slots on this countdown. They abide by not abiding.
One of their cultures is the Bosozuku. These are highly modified, least working PSV's. They are a testament to excess and complete indifference to what's normal
2. KENYA MATATU
I'll be honest, no country in Africa can match our lowest Matatu. We run Africa and we call the Shots.
We are the Bazuu's of PSV transport in Africa. No country can even do 20% of Kenya. We are the SI Unit in the 3rd world.
Be very very proud my countrymen.
1. DEKOTORA OF JAPAN
I'm sure we all watched the Sean Paul music video with trucks emitting flames
These are the Dekotora trucks of Japan. No expenses spared and nothing too lavish.
These loved trucks have owners competing to outshine the next
They take the crown in my books

During the festive ssn, the number of cars on the road multiplies. Most drivers are proficient but accidents can & do happen
Here are a few things to keep in mind after an unfortunate incident.
Before you get on the road, here are a few things to checkoff
1.Ensure everyone is buckled up
2.Ensure the car is in good condition
3.If you can, get an accident cover
4.Avoid overspeeding 5. Eat light & wear comfortable 6. Take breaks every 4-5 hrs 7. Obey all traffic rules
WHAT TO LEGALLY DO AFTER
No matter the severity, there're several things that you need to do:
1. Do not admit fault under any circumstance 2. Call insurance ASAP 3. Get a working phone no. for the other party 4. PHOTOS of the scene without moving the cars from all angles...
For motorists, a breakdown on an unfamiliar road, at night & in poor weather is one of the worst of all nightmares
A time we desperately try to remember where we put the contact No. for the breakdown or insurance, usually unsuccessfully
TOWING BASICS
Once upon a time, all new & used vehicles were made to be towed easily
But now that we buy complicated transmission cars that are auto, CVT & even electric, the towing situation has got a whole lot more complicated & as such certain cars can only be "flatbeded"
MOTOR INSURANCE
I'm the biggest advocate of comprehensive Ins. not only coz it has saved my ass countless times I know with the right guys it works hella well...
Having an additional flatbed insurance for your expensive car is not a luxury but a necessity if it can't be towed.
Got asked a very interesting question in the DM & thought I'd share with its answer...
"Hey Saruni, I've observed people don't stay with STi's for too long while those with Mark X keep them for longer... What's your take?"
1st things 1st...
WICKED OBSERVATION & you're spot on
ANSWER:
4 MAIN REASONS
4. TOYOTA & SUBARU Resale issues... Don't need to expound
3. LUXURY vs COMPACT. The Mark X has awesome leg room & luxury finishes while the STi (trying to save on weight) has a cramped, bare & zero comforts interior
2. GENTLEMAN vs BOYRACER. All boys aspire to be Groomed Respectful Gentlemen after a rebellious phase...
