Trump supporters in seven states submitted phony electoral vote certificates to Congress as part of their effort to overturn the 2020 election results.

We know this because we obtained the fake certificates via FOIA.

Here’s a breakdown of each forged document. THREAD

The fake electoral certificates were assembled by Trump supporters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin who sought to replace valid presidential electors with bogus slates of pro-Trump electors.

The documents also show the names and signatures of the individuals who supported the effort to overturn the will of the people in their state. Most of the certificates contain no indication that they list illegitimate slates of electors not chosen by those states' voters.

So first, Arizona.

According to the documents, the phony electors met on December 14, 2020.

The forged forms claimed to give Arizona’s electoral votes to Donald Trump and Mike Pence. Of course, Joe Biden one the state.

“We the undersigned, being the duly elected and qualified Electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America from the State of Arizona, do hereby certify the following[.]”

Georgia’s phony electors also met on Dec. 14 and used the same language: “We the undersigned, being the duly elected and qualified Electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America from the state of Georgia, do hereby certify the following[.]”

In Michigan, the same thing. Fake electors met on Dec. 14 and once again used the same language to attempt to give Michigan’s electoral votes to Trump and Pence.

And yet again, the same thing in Nevada and Wisconsin.

None of the certificates contains any indication that they list illegitimate slates of electors not chosen by those states’ voters.

In New Mexico, the fake electors used slightly different language that acknowledged they weren’t genuine electors but suggested they could be: “We, the undersigned, on the understanding that it might later be determined that we are the duly elected and qualified electors…”

Fake electors in Pennsylvania also caveated their faked certificates: “We, the undersigned, on the understanding that if, as the result of a final non-appealable Court Order or other proceeding prescribed by law, we are ultimately recognized as the duly elected…”

“This would … appear to be some kind of coordinated effort,” Rachel Maddow said on her show Tuesday evening. “That doesn’t happen by accident. Who organized this?”

The forged certificates were referenced in a memo prepared by Trump-allied lawyer John Eastman outlining a six-step scheme in which former Vice President Mike Pence would throw out the valid electors from the “7 states [that] have transmitted dual slates of electors.”

They were also referenced in the draft letter prepared by former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark in December 2020 that would have instructed Georgia state officials to investigate “various irregularities” in the election.

Trump had plotted to oust acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen and replace him with Clark, who was willing to bolster Trump’s baseless claims of widespread voter fraud and help him use the Justice Department to overturn his election loss.
