OK - now detention proceeding is US v. Jordan Nixon, Janessa Torres & Johara Zavala for assaulting a Delta security officer in a jetway at JFK Airport on Sept 22," one possibly intoxicated, & another refusing a mask." Inner City Press will live tweet, thread below
Assistant US Attorney tells EDNY Magistrate Judge Scanlon that between "9:00 a.m. and the flight’s scheduled departure at 12:55 p.m., the three defendants ordered approximately nine alcoholic beverages."
con't "Nixon began to tap on Employee-2’s head and removed his radio. Nixon then struck Employee-2 repeatedly with his radio as he struggled unsuccessfully to regain control. When Employee-1 tried to intervene to assist him, Zavala punched Employee-1 in the face"
NOTE: it was just said in open court, to get free lawyer, that Johara Zavala owes $10,000 in credit card debt, owns a cars and had extra $593 a month. This while sex abusing dirty doc Cruciani has finances sealed, Press request to unseal not yet docketed
These three Delta-assaulting defendants are all being released on bond, "no contact with air-carrier employee."
Now it's said Ms. Torres wants to fly to Florida with her boyfriend.
Assistant US Attorney opposes it. Defense lawyer says the three were alleged to be intoxicated, one of the co-defendants was (and is) Torres' mother, & she would lose $25,000 if she did it again
Pre-trial services says it has no problem with Ms. Torres flying to Florida. Judge Scanlon approves it and adjourns the proceeding.

OK - now in Jan 6 case of US v. Ryan Samsel, proceeding before DDC Judge Kelly. Inner City Press has covered the case innercitypress.com/ddc113samselic… and will live tweet, thread below
Samsel's lawyer is opposing tolling of the Speedy Trial Act clock: I'm lacking any information at all. The grand jury process and the government's own information is there own. But they've chosen to indict co-defendants; Mr. Samsel shouldn't be prejudiced by it.
Samsel's lawyer: Despite COVID, we shouldn't just rely on the pandemic to justify delay. Our discovery request was made after the US said they had substantially completed discovery. Yes it's 12 pages in length. But there are deficiencies in the US' discovery
OK - now at 7 pm in @sdnylive Magistrates Court, presentment of four defendants arrested this morning in the no-fault car insurance scheme, “Gulkarov Indictment." Inner City Press will live tweet - thread below.
Of tonight's four defendants, only one is asking for - and for now getting - publicly funded lawyer: it's defendant ALBERT ARONOV. Magistrate Judge Moses tell him, what with his wife's income, he might have to pay the taxpayers back at some point.
Now defendant PETER KHAIMOV, a/k/a “Peter Khaim” pleads not guilty. He's charged with healthcare fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy, Travel Act conspiracy, aggravated identity theft (potential maximum term of imprisonment is 37 years)
Now at long delayed sentencing of whie collar defendant Maharaj, Inner City Press cover the 2019 trial innercitypress.com/sdny15erisakoe… Maharaj faces a 97 month guideline, and deportation to Trinidad, which he just called a 3d World country. Thread below
Arguments, that began 2 hours ago (with a 15 minute hiatus from a jury note in an ongoing railroad case jury deliberation Inner City Press is also covering) are over and judge is about to impose sentence. Guideline, he says, is 97 to 121 months in prison.
Criminal sentences should be "sufficient but not greater than necessary." Judge says Maharaj helped steal $2 million over 6 years from a pension fund. (Faint Robert Maxwell echo for some)
Fitzgerald's lawyer cites her client's medical situations, says she could say more.
Judge Friedman: No need to - you emailed the court and the US Attorney's Office. Looks like we won't be able to proceed for the foreseeable future.
AUSA: We'd like 60 days to resolve the case. The defendant has much more pressing medical issues.
[Here's the US "statement of facts," before this more recent undisclosed medical situation: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
OK - now Jan 6 case of US v. NICHOLAS HENDRIX before DDC Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly. She's asking about his PTSD treatment from the Veterans Administration. Inner City Press will live tweet, thread below
Defense: Let's set this over to April --
Judge Kollar-Kotelly: I have a co-defendant case I've set the trial for in April. One of the defendants doesn't have a lawyer right now. How about the end of April? Or the end of March?
Defense: Let's say end of April - at the end of March you might be inundated with pre-trial submissions.
Here is the Complaint and "Statement of Facts" on Hendrix justice.gov/usao-dc/case-m…
Magistrates Court Exclusive: I'm just back from 2 hours in SDNY Mag Court, case of a NYC-based literary agent arrested for cyber-stalking & threats. She's required pending trial to wear a location monitoring bracelet. It was too late, so US Marshals took her 1/x
As the Marshals shepherded the literary agent toward the holding cell, she banged on the table & yelled, I'm not violent, &, I am not done talking with my lawyer (a Federal Defender). Earlier in the proceeding it was said she draws $6000/month from inheritance 2/x
The literary agent was described as having 2 passports, Poland (mandatory consular notification) and Canada (optional), and as driving 107 mph from Minnesota to NY, then supposedly traveling to DC at the same time as stated Victim's brother from UK was there 3/x
