found a perfectly restored Victorian house in a different but equally good city than the non-restored estate sale home. so now we have a viewing scheduled but so do dozens of others apparently
arrgghhh
nothing like shopping for homes for emotional whiplash and dramatic tension
agent and my folks saw it today. apparently it's immaculate. agent gave it 9/10 ("but i have never given a 10.") original woodwork in mint condition, kitchen renovated with modern appliances that somehow all look period. gugh.
just put in an offer at asking
its tricky
we bid something like 40% more than you would bid for a comparable-on-paper house in the area, square footage and bedrooms and such
so my hope is that its not gonna get snatched up by an investor. too weird, not a good rental or flip.
caper: become a journalist and in every piece you write mention that someone is "queer" or perhaps "a queer icon". present no evidence of this. stare your editor down if he contradicts you
"today, queer icon and vice president kamala harris spoke at foggy bottom"
is SHE gonna deny it. i bet she wont
can you prove shes not? can anyone?
will you get sued? lol, in 2022? im sorry we have established that there is no moral valence to sexual orientation, and if someone calls you "queer" you what are the damages? how is this defamatory? go ahead. explain to the press why being queer is bad and youre not ok
there are certain cultural behaviors that have hidden and load-bearing value that is not related to their ostensible purpose
for example, consider the story that in preindustrial agricultural societies, growing crops is done so people can eat, but it also happens to be good physical exercise
but nobody thinks about it like that, its just for getting food
