Conservation of temples at Barsoor

In the fantastic attempt to conserve the archaeological heritage of Barsoor, @DantewadaDist under the guidance of Collector @DeepakSoni_1 Sir, conserving the damaged and the ruins of temples of Barsoor, have been started on local people demand.
Barsoor earlier was known for its 147 temples & ponds and was the capital of Nal, gang and Nagvansh dynasty but with time its glory was faded because the next kingdom Kaktiyas shifted its capital to different locations. No serious attempt was made so far to conserve its heritage
4 years back Barsoor Parytan Samiti was constituted with the help of @DantewadaDist, started documenting the places and started giving guiding services to the tourists.Local people always value the heritage but conserving the heritage requires a lot of expertise & constant effort
It started with organizing Barsoor Mahotsav but because of some issues, Govt was not able to organize it for the past 4 years. This time administration has taken a serious step on the conservation of the temples of Barsoor and has appointed the conserving architect's from Nagpur
In the initial phase of the conservation, the permission from the local god and goddess was taken jointly by the involvement of local people, the priest, the administration & the conservation architects.

In the second phase, the Barsoor Paryatan Samiti and the local people started working on removing the slit and vegetation and in the third phase marking of the stones based on which direction they fell has been done.

It is the classic example of conservation efforts; where the Local demanded the conservation, Administration initiated it and experts did the conservation.

At Solah Khambha temple, this is the first time that Shivling has been visible at the grabhgrih. One idol of Laxmi was also found, interestingly the stone which was used for carving the idol is Kota stone and not the available Sand Stone.
Surya temple is completely damaged, more efforts should be taken to open the temple. Still, the entrance of this temple is not known and the idol of Surya is placed outside the temple.
Paidamma gudi temple, this temple is still in a better position but the shikhar portion is completely damaged and the inside of the temple is collapsing. When you will visit one can see many stones which are lying there. An attempt of resetting the temple can be done.
