There have been 1,642 reported COVID-19 cases at CPS, and counting, from 1/13 (Thursday) - 1/16 (today).

😬
Because CPS is adding/deleting cases, and spreading them out throughout the weekend, the average daily case rate appears to be 410 / day for those 4 days.

More accurate would be to assume they are part of the Thursday / Friday totals, which would be 820 / day for 2 days.
To be clear, I’m making an assumption re: compressing the 4 day total into 2 days, mainly due to Friday’s shenanigans during the #CpsWalkout:
2,150 positive CPS cases (and counting) from 1/13 (Thursday) - 1/17 (today).
Don’t get numb to these figures. The vast majority of these cases are our children.
Don’t write off Omicron as “mild like a cold/flu”. Cold & flu does not run the risk of giving you, your child, your child’s educators, or your loved ones long-term health issues, including brain damage.
PAY ATTENTION to the now frequent & often large COVID-19 case drops between 1am - 2am in the morning.

If you all think CPS has a bean counter up working that late, particularly on a 3-day weekend, well, I have a vanity SpaceX space flight to sell you. ImageImageImageImage
If there is a good reason why 694 cases can vanish at 11:07 pm on 1/13, only to resurface a shade over 2 hours at 1:20 a.m., let’s hear it.

Otherwise stop futzing with the numbers, @ChiPubSchools. ImageImage

@ChiPublicHealth I’ll get a head start:

1- if there was a measles outbreak at a school, would you recommend closing it? Or would you tell parents to grin and bear it?

#AskDrArwady
@ChiPublicHealth 3- Are you aware that #Omicron is considered to be the 2nd most transmissible disease in the world (behind measles) by many medical professionals? If so, I again ask: why is @ChiPubSchools open during the peak of the Omicron surge in this city?

#AskDrArwady
@ChiPublicHealth @ChiPubSchools 4- Are you aware that COVID-19 is NOT just a respiratory virus, and that it has “multiple avenues to induce long-term impairment, attacking the brain, heart, lungs, blood, testes, colon, liver, and lymph nodes, causing persistent symptoms in more than half of patients?”
