My grandpa turned 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ years old on Jan 12 and it was a blessing to get four generations of Ohanians together.
We had Armenian food for dinner at our home the next day and he regaled us with stories from winning a car in a church raffle (which he immediately sold to put toward college) to volunteering for WWII. His generation was built different and I'm grateful for their sacrifices.
To think of how far we came: my grandpa John Ohanian is the son of refugees, Armenian Genocide survivors, who were orphaned and started with nothing here in the US... His son built a small travel agency (retired this year) and his grandson built @reddit...
and who knows what great heights his great granddaughter will achieve. 💪
Oh and I asked Grandpa to do an AMA with me on Reddit 8 years ago that still holds up 👇 reddit.com/r/IAmA/comment…

Are you all realizing the implications of this $SOS Airdrop???
OK — b4 all the VC thinkpieces start.... these airdrops (like $ENS before it) flip script on how EVERYONE will value their time + spending online👉 u're finally rewarded 4 using. It's bringing incentives that I love (as a founder/investor) to the COMMUNITY that makes it all work
Because everything is in a public database, it allows anyone to show up and reward behavior stored there. Yes, there will be lots of spam, but the projects that emerge w great teams can win big by incentivizing (not preying upon) community.

Convinced yet? 👇😏 It's happening. A year ago I started really banging the Web3 drum...keep watching where the talent goes
Seeding coinbase in 2012 was eye-opening, so was the ETH-pre-sale, but even 2 years ago I was writing about how it was inevitable that gaming would be leveled up thanks to web3: medium.com/initialized-ca…
It's clear the tech here to stay. There'll be a Cambrian explosion of new products creating better User Experiences (which is all people care about at the end of the day). @sevensevensix has been busy backing @trylolli @QuickNode @IslandsXYZ @Topiaio + more we can't announce yet

Me, every single time someone in my replies tells me that No OnE WaNTs tO WAtCh WoMEn'S SpOrTs.

Your ignorance & rage gives me so much more motivation. Just watch.
There'll eventually be a Drive to Survive moment for @NWSL and then it'll be GG. Mark my words.
And way too many people are gonna be like "wE HaD No IdEa WoMEn ConSUmEd MEdIa, CrEaTed CoNteNt OnLiNE, Or ParTicIpATeD IN ThE EcONoMy."

Even decades of @NCAA bludgeoning women BB couldn't stop em from being more engaging + more followed than the men.

Tomorrow @ 6:30pm ET, @tom_sachs and I are discussing the auction of a 1/1 Rocket NFT, which is @ChristiesInc x @opensea's first ever completely on-chain auction.
The Rocket is named ‘Through the Night Softly’ and is the ONLY Miami Vice branded Rocket in the entire collection. The auction opens at 5pm ET tomorrow 12/2 and ends 24 hours later on 12/3.
At the same time as the auction, @tom_sachs will be launching 75 Physical, real life, one-to-one twins of existing Rocket NFTs.

I also studied post WWII German history and the rigorous teaching of the Holocaust (not to mention the fact that there are memorials in every German city) is a great inspiration for how a society can embrace shame and become better for it.
Post reconstruction USA was essentially the opposite: no reparations, no Nuremberg trials, no shame, no memorials (but Confederate statues a few decades later just to be jerks) and instead the energy just moved to other ways to perpetuate the same systems (redlining, segregation)
My mom was one of those kids who was taught rigorously about the history. And she taught me that my pride as a German meant accepting the Holocaust along with Beethoven. It was OK to feel tremendous pride for some parts of our history as well as tremendous shame for others.
