Five years ago, I started promoting #NoHijabDay on Feb 1st to directly counter HijabDay.
Every year our pictures and videos go viral. Though the road is long, I can definitely see our efforts are changing the dominant narrative.
Looking fwd to seeing this year’s contributions💕
Two necessary clarifications:
1) We are not asking anyone to remove their hijab- we know they could get killed for it, and we would never do that. This is a day in solidarity and support of those who want to take it off/have taken it off/stand against its misogynist purpose.
2)We are not all ExMuslims. We are Muslims as well. We’re women who were born into Muslim families, women who converted to Islam, women who lived in countries that forced them wear it-we are are a vast array of women from different countries and cultural backgrounds who all unite

Ministry suspends licences of 11 teachers at Bedford school in Quebec, Canada:
"We have a group of teachers who tried to introduce Islamic religious concepts into a Quebec public school," the premier said.
Science and sex education courses were either not being taught or barely taught at Bedford elementary school and on several occasions young girls were told they were not allowed to play soccer because it was a sport "reserved for the boys," according to a government report.
This is the unfortunate and inevitable consequence of capitulation to religious zealots. Every time you silence criticism by using the Islamist coined term ‘Islamophobia’ you are facilitating this. You are facilitating the erosion of your own values by appeasing those who wish to destroy them.
“Bedford School is not an isolated case. What makes it a remarkable case is above all the number of people involved. But in other private or public institutions, schools, daycares, homes for the elderly, hospitals and other citizen services, a few people are enough to complicate the lives of others and make a work environment a toxic environment.
As a Quebecer of Moroccan origin, I can testify to the fight I have had to fight against Islamism since I am in Quebec. I have experienced several very difficult situations, because people who want to make Islam a way of life and impose it on others have an easier time openly demonstrating their intolerance in front of me than in front of other Quebecers.”
On March 11, 1978, Dalal Mughrabi, a 19-year-old Palestinian woman, led a group of 13 terrorists from Lebanon by boat and landed on an Israeli beach between the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa. Realizing that they had missed their target destination of Tel Aviv, the group casually ate lunch on the beach, then ran into nature photographer Gail Rubin, a New Yorker and the niece of a U.S. senator. They asked her for directions to Tel Aviv and then Mughrabi shot Rubin point blank.
They flagged down a taxi, killed its occupants and began driving to Tel Aviv. En route, they hijacked a bus full of civilians and proceeded to shoot Kalashnikovs and toss grenades at passing vehicles. They killed one of the bus passengers, tossed the body from the vehicle and carried on.
They commandeered a second bus, piling the surviving passengers from the first vehicle onto the second one, amassing 70 hostages. After blasting through successive barricades, the bus was finally stopped by a roadblock just outside the northern edge of Tel Aviv. The terrorists launched a firefight with sub-machine guns, grenades and explosives against ill-prepared and lightly armed officers. When the battle ended, 37 Israelis and one American, among them 13 children, were dead. Another 71 were wounded.
While many Gazans support Hamas, a poll conducted in July showed 50% of Gazans agreed that “Hamas should stop calling for Israel’s destruction, and instead accept a permanent two-state solution based on the 1967 borders.”
Hamas stands next to al Qaeda and ISIS in perpetuating deadly terror attacks against civilians. I am heartbroken, of course, that Gazans will now have to pay the price for Hamas’ depravity. It is brutal and horrific. War always is. It was also brutal and horrific when al Qaeda was responsible for the loss of so many Iraqi lives or when ISIS was responsible for the loss of so many Syrian lives.
At the hands of Hamas, the Jewish people have endured horrors not seen since the Holocaust. And, like the Nazis, Hamas does not view Jewish people as human beings. According to its 1988 covenant, every Jew must be eradicated from this earth. Its goal is not the genocide of Jewish people in Israel; its goal is the genocide of all Jewish people on this planet, period.
A few days ago I posted about a Somali girl who was horrifically beaten by her brother because she posted a video on tik tok without hijab. Many comments said she should have been killed. Here is a young nine yr old from Iraq who was killed by her father over a tik tok video.
What cultural elements do Somalia and Iraq have in common?
Language? No
Food? No
Clothing? No
Traditions? No
The ONLY thing they have in common is the religion of Islam. A religion that fosters and encourages vicious misogyny that leads to honor violence and honor killings.
Men in Islamic societies are encouraged to be toxic. Boys are told it’s their responsibility to control their sisters in order to maintain the family honor. Fathers are shamed if their daughters have any kid of freedom or independence. Toxic masculinity is fostered, encouraged… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Two Saudi sisters found in their Australia apartment one month after their death. The girls were terrified of someone/something. Their family couldn’t even be bothered to go to Australia to investigate what happened to Asra and Amaal. That tells me all I need to know. This… https://t.co/0juZKBYLmbtwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
My husband and I watched a documentary about Noor Almaleki- an Iraqi woman living in the US who was killed by her father when she refused a forced marriage and ran away. I said to him-I wouldn’t have even gotten a documentary. No one would have known. Most girls killed in honor… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
“I’ll bury you in the backyard and tell anyone who asks that you moved to Egypt. Easy.”
I had no idea how common that threat was. How often girls were being told that- just substitute Egypt for Somalia, Iraq, etc.
The first person to suffer from #Islamotrauma was Aisha. Aisha was just six years old when she was married off to a 53 yr old man. Read below as she exclaims:
“I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women.”
She was right then and she is still right today.
Muslim women are the only women who are forced to endure being beaten by their husbands because Allah sanctioned it in the Quran.
Muslim women are the only women forced to endure being raped by their husbands because it is sanctioned in Hadith.
Other women can appeal to their families, the authorities, where can Muslim women go? Who can they appeal to that will override Islamic scriptures? Who will protect her from the edicts of a 1400 year old religion? Who will protect her from the almighty Allah?
