Bond hearing up now. Judge Emmet Sullivan (yes that one) presiding. Jail inspector found several issues at the Gulag but still concluded conditions met standards.
Sullivan asks how long Gieswein has been in isolation. DOJ says since December 31 but Gieswein said they’ve been in isolation since Christmas Eve.
Every positive test results in 14 day isolation , he’s on 2nd 14 day isolation.
Detainees in 22-hour lockdown now.
Unreal. DOJ now says quarantine lockdowns will cause more trial delays. Gieswein jury selection supposed to begin end of February. Sullivan now talking March or April trial.
Gieswein has been incarcerated for a year.
Gieswein atty asks Sullivan to consider motion for bond.
Defense also asking to dismiss case based on Speedy Trial violations. Says she can’t prepare for Feb 24 trial without seeing her client or share discovery.
Also argues poor conditions in jail.
Biden’s DOJ: We still oppose Gieswein’s release.
Political prisoners.
Sullivan asks if defense has been able to speak to Gieswein about report on jail conditions. She says no.
Sullivan “inclined to deny” motion for bond.
Trial moved to March 30, blames pandemic. “These are very trying times.” Notes Gieswein unvaccinated status.
Now moves trial to April 20.
I would laugh but this is so f*cking twisted and outrageous. Literally making up stuff as he goes along.
Sullivan rejects defense request to hear directly from Gieswein.
Gieswein will be in quarantine until January 28 so next hearing will be 2/24.
Gieswein interrupts and says he wants to address the court. Sullivan says no, says he should go in virtual breakout room with his attorney.
While we wait, let’s recap: Sullivan not only refused to release a J6 detainee incarcerated for a year, he pushed his trial back 2 months.
DOJ says it’ll be another week or two before she can file a discovery update.
Defense wants Gieswein to speak to court. Sullivan keeps resisting.
Sullivan says “put it in writing.”
Gieswein tries to speak, Sullivan cuts him off. “Put it in a letter” and I’ll consider it.
“You’re not a lawyer,” Sullivan cuts him off, says he can’t sit here and “let people mouth off.”
Sullivan says he trying to protect Gieswein, lol. “I want to ensure a fair proceeding.”
DOJ filed a superseding indictment Friday on Gieswein. He pleads not guilty.
Kangaroo court.

Hearing up now on Ryan Samsel, the man who first breached USCP line at the perimeter of Capitol grounds right before 1pm on January 6. DOJ announced two other defendants will be added to his 2-person case.
This is where Ray Epps is seen whispering in Samsel's ear before he acted
Judge is Tim Kelly, a Trump appointee. Samsel has been detained since his arrest on January 30. He has been assaulted at least twice in 2 different jails.
New indictment is under seal bc there is a 5th individual who hasn't been arrested yet so name is redacted.
Samsel atty telling Kelly USMS still hasn't given Samsel's medical record to PA jail where he is detained. Also refuting DOJ adding defendants to Samsel's case since there is no conspiracy charge. 'Why not charge 725 people together?"
I just replayed Matt Olsen's testimony. It confirms DOJ NSD, an agency created to coordinate intel during the 1st war on terror, will create a domestic terror unit.
Anyone who still disputes that J6 is a pretext to launch a domestic war on terror against the Right is delusional.
Hirono expressing frustration of Democrats who are mad DOJ isn't yet using terror enhancements against "insurrectionists." She's including those who attacked police. Prosecutors have used "domestic terrorists" language in motions but not pursued enhancements
LOL Lindsey Graham asks Olsen if he has enough resources to protect the nation. "Do you need more money or changes in the law?" Asks Olsen if J6 is comparable to 9/11 or Pearl Harbor. "It was unique and singular." Asks about repeated attacks on Portland courthouse, 100 nights
I know Senate hearing with Fauci and Walensky will get all the attention today but I will be covering Senate Judiciary committee on "Domestic Terror" attack of January 6. Will Republicans step up and finally confront FBI on its role that day?
