Ajit Kumar Doval was born in 1945 in a village Pauri, Uttrakhand.Although not much is known about his family, Ajit Doval completed his schooling from Ajmer Military School and graduated with an MA in Economics from University of Agra in 1967.

He was later honoured with honorary doctorates from Agra University in December 2017 and Kumaun University in May 2018.
Ajit Doval qualified the civil services in the year 1968 and became an IPS officer of the Kerala cadre.

He worked many years as an undercover agent in northeast to gather intelligence informations on insurgent groups active there.During the same time, Ajit Doval spend time inside Arakan in Rakhine, Myanmar, and deep inside China to gather information about insurgents active there.

The successful mission before Pakistan includes his mission to the Northeast where Laldenga was the leader of the Mizo National Front (MNF), a secessionist group at war with India. In 1986, a peace accord was signed and he became the Chief Minister.

So close was Doval to underground Mizo National Army chief Baikchchunga that Laldenga had to threaten to sack his army chief if he listened to Doval.Doval was able to win 6 out of 7 comrades of Laldenga and forced them to settle for peace.

He became the youngest Police officer in India's history to have won the Indian Police Medal for meritorious service.He was honoured with this award just after 6 years of service while according to the norm, the service experience should be 17 years.

Indira Gandhi presented him with that award because of his phenomenal work.After a successful NorthEast mission, Ajit Doval went to Pakistan. He remained there for 6 years often disguising himself to gather vital informations on many occasions for INDIA.

OPERATION BLUESTAR : Sometime in 1988. Residents of Amritsar around the Golden Temple spotted a rickshawpuller plying his trade.The rickshaw puller convinced the militants that he was an ISI operative, who had been sent by his Pakistani masters to help the Khalistan cause.

Two days before Operation Black Thunder, the rickshaw-puller entered the Golden Temple and returned with crucial information, including the actual strength and positions of the terrorists inside the shrine. He was none other than Ajit Doval undercover.

When the final assault came, the young police officer was inside Harminder Sahib, streaming much needed information to security forces to carry out search-and-flush operations.During the time of army assault on Bhindrawale and sikh militants DOVAL was still inside the Gurudwara.

Ajit Doval prevented as many as a minimum of 15 hijackings of Indian Airlines aircraft between 1971 and 1999.Before the year 2004,he had set up and was heading Multi Agency Centre (MAC) and Joint Task Force on Intelligence (JTFI).

These two companies help bring all security agencies on a single platform and concentrate on counter-terrorism.Ajit Doval is a master of psychological warfare. He got Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, pro-Pak Syed Ali Shah Geelani to the negotiating table.

In the year 2004, Ajit Doval was made the chief of Intelligence Bureau by the UPA government under Dr.Manmohan Singh.
Ajit Doval set up Vivekananda International Foundation - a think tank of former spy chiefs and diplomats.

Ajit Doval was brought out from his retirement and made the 5th NSA by the Modi Government. In 2014, when 46 Indian nurses taken captive by the Islamic State, Ajit Doval played an important role to secure their release.

He successful conceptualised Indian Surgical Strike in URI. He also helped end the Doklam standoff and took decisive decisions to tackle the insurgents in NorthEast. He also had a hand in the IAF airstrike on JeM camp in Balakot to avenge the Pulwama attack.
