Across NSW, more than 95 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 93.9 per cent have received two doses to Wednesday 19 January.

Of people aged 12 to 15, 82.4 per cent have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 78.3 per cent have received two doses. Of people aged 5 to 11, 21.7 per cent have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 14,988,948 with 4,666,052 administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 10,322,896 administered by the GP network, pharmacies and other providers to 11.59pm on Wednesday 19 January 2022.

NSW Health encourages everyone who is eligible to receive a vaccination or their booster dose to book into a NSW Health vaccination clinic or another provider without delay through the COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder: covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/booking/

Sadly, NSW Health is today reporting the deaths of 46 people with COVID-19; 33 men and 13 women. Seven of these deaths have been included following the conclusion of coronial investigations – these seven deaths occurred from 29 December through to 13 January.

Of the 46 people who died; one person was aged in their 30s, one person was in their 40s, four people were in their 50s, eight people were in their 60s, 12 people were in their 70s, 13 people were in their 80s, and seven people were in their 90s.

One person had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, 29 people had received two doses, two people had received one dose and 14 people were not vaccinated.

Older age is a significant risk factor for serious illness and death for COVID-19, particularly when combined with significant underlying health conditions.

Of the seven people who died aged under 65, all were men. Two men had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and five men were not vaccinated, including the men in their 30s and 40s.

Three of the five men who were not vaccinated had significant underlying health conditions and two, including the man in his 30s, did not. Both men who were vaccinated had significant underlying health conditions.

20 people were from South Western Sydney, five were from western Sydney, three were from Sydney’s south, two were from Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, two were from Newcastle, two were from northern Sydney, one was from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, one was from Sydney’s inner west, -

- one was from Port Macquarie, one was from Coffs Harbour, one was from Queanbeyan, one was from the Bega Valley area, one was from Singleton, one was from the Jervis Bay area, one was from Inner Sydney, one was from Wollongong, -

- one was from the South Coast and one was from the Tweed Heads area.

NSW Health expresses its sincere condolences to their loved ones. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,024.

There are currently 2,743 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 209 people in intensive care, 68 of whom require ventilation.

There were 25,168 positive test results (cases) notified to 8pm last night – including 10,015 positive rapid antigen tests (RATs) and 15,153 positive PCR tests.

Of the 10,015 positive RAT results, 8,774 of these positive tests were from the previous seven days.

Please note there may be some cases included in these numbers where people have reported positive RATs on multiple days and/or where people have also had a positive PCR test during the same reporting period.

The 15,153 positive PCR results were returned from 88,113 PCR tests. 396 COVID-19 cases detected by PCR tests have been excluded following further investigation, bringing the total number of cases detected by PCR tests in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 723,259.

Of the 15,153 cases reported from PCR tests to 8pm last night, 2,288 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 2,248 are from Western Sydney LHD, 1,745 are from Hunter New England LHD, 1,635 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD, 1,271 are from Northern Sydney LHD, -

- 1,121 are from Sydney LHD, 944 are from Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD, 791 are from Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, 652 are from Central Coast LHD, 633 are from Murrumbidgee LHD, 515 are from Northern NSW LHD, 386 are from Western NSW LHD, 363 are from Southern NSW LHD, -

- 265 are from Mid North Coast LHD, 36 are from Far West NSW LHD, 11 are in correctional settings and 249 are yet to be assigned to an LHD.
