I haven't seen many people make this point, but a core reason why 'the left' in the West has become increasingly unhinged over the past decade is that as society becomes more egalitarian, fair, and non-discriminatory, their natural role and purpose becomes less clear and obvious.

This has really been the first time period in history where there isn't CLEARLY an entire demographic that is being mistreated by the law and society as a whole.

The major battles have been won but people don't know where to put their energy. So they start promoting dumb stuff.

In fact, people have overcorrected so hard they have created an entire new set of problems. And have created MORE discrimination and division as a result. 🙈

We live in the age of overcorrection and directionless, purposeless humans.

'Social justice' went from something good, righteous and necessary, to something pointless, annoying and divisive in a few short decades.

The activists themselves don't even truly know what they're fighting for anymore... But we all have to deal with the fallout.

There are still problems and always will be. But we actually achieved the fairest and most tolerant society ever about 10 years ago..

Instead of celebrating that and tweaking it to optimise, it's getting destroyed and pushed backwards by overzealous, bored people.

Some people have 'activist' personality types...

When they have no real battles to fight, they won't stop fighting. They will simply invent a new 'enemy' to fight.

Often creating a real one in the process.

There are a lot of former lefties and liberals who now find themselves being labeled 'conservatives' or 'right wing' because they are simply trying to conserve liberalism itself... Whilst 'progressives' seek to nuke it. 😂

It's intriguing to watch.
