I went from being chronically ill and going to the toilet 20+ times a day...
To a healthy, fit Ironman in 2021.
Here is how I did it 👇👇
Growing up, I was a typical American kid. I play sports with my friends and ate a standard American diet: Fried foods, pastas, breads, etc.
I excelled in baseball and had multiple Division I scholarships to play in college.
In college, I was the definition of "Work Hard, Play Hard."
Work Hard: Rigorous business courses and baseball games, practices, lifting sessions.
Play Hard: 10+ drinks on a Friday / Saturday, terrible food choices, not enough sleep.
I embodied the term: "Fit but Unhealthy"
Yes, I went to the gym & exercised, ate a lot of protein but the pillars of my diet were flawed.
I was living off of fried food, vegetable oils, refined breads / sugars, caffeine.
I worked an internship in NYC going into my senior year of college. I started noticed blood when I would go to the toilet.
I ignored this.
As the summer went on, the symptoms got worse and worse.
I would have days where I went to the bathroom 20+ times a day.
The last day of my internship I ended up going to the hospital. I had lost over 20 pounds in a week's time.
I could not eat anything and was also vomiting blood.
After a colonoscopy I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, an incurable Autoimmune disease.
UC is an autoimmune disease that attacks the Colon (large intestine).
No one knows the actual cause, but doctors speculate it is caused by three things: 1. Diet 2. Stress 3. Genetics
I healed my autoimmune disease (UC) doing these things in 2021:
- Ate a TON of Meat (2 IB/day)
- Cut out refined carbs
- Cut out sugar
- Stopped drinking alcohol
- Daily Exercise
- Daily Sun Exposure
- Meditated
- Journaled my meals
