Good old subtile racism at @ARD_Presse? Chief reporter at @ard_Warschau Jan @pallokat defends Russian myths on Crimea annexation. Confronted with my criticism, he starts to call me "Mr. Sergej". For me - a clear sign that my Eastern European heritage is stressed (cont.)
In Ukrainian or in Polish one can politely address a person "Mr.+FirstName" (Pane Sergiju in Ukrainian for example) But using this form in another language to a German person would be a deliberate stressing of his/her ancestry. Note: he calls Putin "Mr. Putin", not "Mr. Vladimir"
In our previous discussion (in German) I have addressed him as "lieber Herr Pallokat" (dear Mr. Pallokat), what is the only polite way to address a person in German. I know this "Mr.+FirstName" practice of subtile racist attitude from many situation. A friend of mine told me...
she (a naturalised German) was the only person among many Germans, who was repeatedly addressed by a German ambassador (!) in the country of her deployment with "Ms.+FirstName". The ambassador continued to do so even after she has confronted him with the fact she was unhappy.
Effectively the ambassador targeted her linguistically as a "not a real German". I am afraid, in the case of Mr. Pallokat, who is stationed in Poland, worked from Ukraine before and is aware of this difference, this wording was a deliberate racist insult vs me, @ARD_Presse

One of Ukraine's biggest liberal media publishes this unprecedented harsh editorial: "Germany pushes (Europe) into a war and destroys its future in Ukraine. This must stop". The media stresses it is a consolidated position of editors. Read this, @ABaerbock eurointegration.com.ua/articles/2022/…
If Russia wants to install a pro-Russian govt in Ukraine, they would not bet on dead horses like Azarov. The would: 1) Initiate an attack which Zelensky would not be able to fight back 2) An SBU or Army general (presumably a patriot, but on RUS payroll) would revolt 3) Win (cont)
Ukraine is a living democracy and can't be ruled by dictatorship means. But this democracy's weakness is the lack of political programmatic parties, and the rule of many eader's parties. This is a fruitful soil for populists on Russia's or oligarchs' payroll (like Zelensky was).
As a lot of Ukrainian SBU and Army officers are still obviously well connected to /controlled by Russia, it will not be a problem to find a person from Zelensky's (anyway pro-Russian) team who would play a card "I am not a politician, I am a guy like you, and I will bring order".
German Moscow-correspondent Jo Angerer from the biggest public broadcaster @ARDMoskau says, "of course" Swedish tanks on the Swedish island of Gotland are a "threat" for Moscow. Tanks. On the island. Threat. What is goddam wrong with your team, @InaRuck ?!
Wow. According to German media, Merkel had not only blocked Nato-integration of UKR and GEO, but also blocked delivery of innocent and purely defensive weapons like anti-drones electronic rifles. Actually, anti-drones rifles would have HELPED to fulfil Minsk ("no foreign drones")
I would be really happy to know what were Merkel's motives here. This cannot be explained by naivity. Anti-drones rifles were ordered by Ukraine, paid already, and other Nato nations had nothing against the delivery. Once again: these devices could help to fulfil Minsk agreement!
Just a reminder: Russian modern drones used in Ukrainian Donbas against Ukrainian army, are powered by German engines: tagesschau.de/investigativ/r…
THREAD: A new HUGE corruption (and most probably spy) scandal around Zelensky. On Dec.8 Deputy Minister of Interior Gogilashvili did not stop his car at a check point in Donetsk region. After being stopped, he started to shout at, insult, threat and physically attacked policemen.
A video of incident went public on Dec.11. Free media started to uncover Gogiashvili's past. A HUGE stinking past had been revealed. In 2000s, Gogiashvili lived in Russian Rostov and was a PR officer at a probably criminal group of private prisons for drug addicts 2000-2010.
In 1998 he was convicted in Russia for fraud. There are concerns how could he work with a highly sensitive topic of drugs in Russia as a convict without cooperation with FSB. He also actively cooperated with Russian Kremlin party United Russia. Here: together with senator Karelin
Chief Editor of Ukrainian magazine NovoyeVremya @tweetsNV proudly writes, he tricked a bartender."I went to a bar on Cyprus, they did not accept phone payments, so a bartender gave me whisky and said: you'll pay tomorrow. I took it, but my plane is tomorrow morning, I won't pay!"
I see several interesting cases here: 1) He is proud and feels entitled for his actions, as "I came from a country with developed fintech" (so the bar was the problem, not he); 2) He writes this all in Russian. NV @tweetsNV was+remains a stronghold of russification of Ukraine;
3) I remember another shameful case of how a chief editor proudly tells he tricked ppl abroad. Dep.Chief Editor of Surkov-controlled Russian "Russki Reporter" magazin Sokolov-Mitrich wrote ones, how he left a German hotel before the reception opened and could charge him for stay;
