Due to Omicron, states across the US are seeing large spikes in COVID deaths. In the last two weeks, Tennessee has seen a 239% increase, Puerto Rico has seen a 225% increase, and Louisiana has seen a 170% increase in deaths.

NEW: Russia has drawn up plans to install a pro-Kremlin former member of parliament to lead Ukraine as it considers a new invasion of the country and the overthrow of its central government, according to a British assessment shared with BuzzFeed News.

A CDC report found that communities of color are less likely to get lifesaving COVID-19 treatments, like monoclonal antibodies.

According to the analysis, people who are Hispanic faced the most barriers in accessing the treatment, receiving monoclonal antibodies 58% less often than their non-Hispanic peers.
Patients who were Asian, as well as those who identified with the “other” category, including Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and multiracial patients, received monoclonal antibodies about 48% and 47% less often.
