Innovation in web performance has been 🔥 lately. Here are the projects you need to watch in 2022: 🧵
for extreme rendering performance, @solid_js is the obvious winner. you cannot beat their combination of crushing benchmarks + having an amazing DX and community
for having a huge community and adoption, @react + @nextjs is still the no brainer. the support, ecosystem, and talent in this community is unbeatable
for fastest possible page load speed, you need a solution that eliminates as much JS as possible. @astrodotbuild, @MarkoDevTeam, and @remix_run are doing exciting things here
or, if you want to push to the extremes of speed and not afraid of early adoption, @QwikDev can serve any size/complexity of app with near 0 JS, and is worth a close look
then regardless of stack, check out Partytown to wipe out 3rd party script bloat and move them to a webworker github.com/builderio/part…
as always, serve content from a high speed edge network like those provided by @vercel, @Cloudflare, or @Netlify
And make sure all assets are optimized with support for next generation formats like with @cloudinary. Utilize native browser lazy loading when possible web.dev/browser-level-…
if you need to a/b test and personalize pages without performance hits, be sure to do your traffic splitting at the edge and use edge-optimized solutions like @LaunchDarkly and @builderio
then, be sure to track your performance always. love it or hate it, @____lighthouse is the gold standard here, and esp. look at the google pagespeed insights *mobile* score for emulated real world metrics (your m1 laptop on 1gbps wifi is not real world!)
have recommendations I missed here? please send!
