1/ My definition of a GREAT "Deep Dive" in a Thread:
My biggest lesson from years of investing in stocks was realizing what it actually means to understand a business to avoid cognitive bias.
Now starting on NFTs, I try to define my framework by applying similar concepts. #NFT
2/ A great "deep-dive" needs to give insights:
ᐅ The roadmap includes value-creation long term?
ᐅ Operators have capabilities to deliver?
ᐅ The community has a "builders" mentality?
and mostly,
ᐅ The community/customers interest will remain stable/increase in the long term?
3/ Starting mistakes
I was wasting time trying to surf every wave only using "hype" as a research tool, this has a lot of issues:
ᐅ Only gives you short term conviction
ᐅ Can be very easily faked (invites, levels schemes)
ᐅ Leave you bag holding things you don't believe in
4/ Hype trend and Greater-fool theory
This results in a "greater-fool game", buying projects that you don't believe in and expecting - hoping - to find someone, a greater fool, to buy at a higher price from you.
5/ The main purpose of a deep dive is to construct the thesis
It is about being able to forecast risk-reward cases to help you make better capital allocation decisions.
Understand how everything fits together and what will possibly go wrong / right in the future.
6/ To assess whether the attention of a community will remain stable/increase
I spend time understanding:
ᐅ If roadmap includes daily/weekly value-added to the holders
ᐅ If the community invested a lot to be part of the project (time, creativity)
7/ Operators have capabilities to deliver
A strong plus wen teams are doxed is the ability to verify their background and what they previously produced to induce their ability to deliver what they talk about. (@DroniesNFT, @MiniNations, @TheSuitesNFT, e.g.)
7/ We can also induce some conclusions, wen teams, to let us test prototypes of the projects before the launch ( @MiniNations, @TheSuitesNFT, @catch_king, e.g.)
8/ Operators optionality
$AMZN for example could not be what it is today if it just sold books
Check the video below where you can hear:
"Skeptics say that Amazon should sell every book on earth today to justify its valuation"
Bezos had more ambitions!
8.1/
Optionality is one of the most important things to look out for in potential investments, increase upside, and reduce the downside.
"Are you able to find the operators + project where optionality allows for prolonged growth?"
Difficult answer but those are the true winners
9/ The community has a "builders" mentality?
If you see a community spreading good vibes and trying always to look for solutions to move forward, that's great.
That's the sign of a community that is top tier and people will spend time in, even when prices are down
9.1/ Examples of community value creation
ᐅ Twitter spaces
ᐅ Getting top tier Collab's
ᐅ Roadmap collaboration
ᐅ Newsletter
ᐅ Gaming nights
ᐅ Deep level research about other projects
9.2/ How much effort community put in to be a part of the project
Recognize the value of projects that have no invites/levels schemes, and only try to reward members who really contribute
I can make a whole thread in the future about this but what Dronies did in the last 5 weeks
10/ Connecting all the dots
All the previously mentioned points are interconnected and allow us to see if people's interest will remain stable/increase in the long term and this goes over all macro scenarios in short term.
@SBF_FTX This is the reality buying NFTs for 500$ to play a game that arent immersive compared to traditional games that costs you 50$ are are super immersive makes no sense.
A lot has to be improved with exception of a few projects like @MiniNations
