🧵#BellLetsTalk about the devastating social contagion of adolescent-onset gender dysphoria that is currently sweeping the globe. How a rare condition that once afflicted predominantly boys starting in early childhood now affects mostly girls and the onset is sudden at puberty./1
#BellLetsTalk about the on-average 4000% increase in the no. of teen girls IDing as trans in the past decade. How teenage girls are the very demographic known to be susceptible to social contagions. Past epidemics of anorexia, bulimia & cutting all hit teenage girls hardest./2 ImageImage
#BellLetsTalk about how social media affects the mental health of teen girls. How it's contributing to an epidemic of mental illness in this vulnerable group. Look at the similarity between these graphs - the sharp increases both occur with the rise of smartphones/social media./3 ImageImage
#BellLetsTalk about how this social contagion is far more devastating than any we've seen before because our society is in the grip of a collective madness. Governments, schools, corporations, and the media are all actively promoting this particular psychiatric disorder./4
#BellLetsTalk about how the internet provides a super-spreading environment for this psychic contagion, and how as a result, tens of thousands of young people are going to emerge from this period of utter insanity sterile and missing body parts./5
#BellLetsTalk about how schools are at the very centre of this catastrophe. Teachers who tell children it's possible to be born in the wrong body, or who socially transition a child without parental consent or knowledge, are actively participating in harming these children./6
#BellLetsTalk about how this is the worst medical scandal the world has ever seen, and how people of the future will look about at this period in absolute horror that decent, well-meaning people everywhere supported and celebrated this terrible child abuse./end

This is great news, but every victory elsewhere is a harsh reminder of how dire the situation still is here in Canada. There can be no doubt now that England is soon to join the ranks of Sweden, Finland and France in ending the appalling child abuse occurring in gender clinics./1
Meanwhile in Canada, Bill C4 was voted through unanimously because our MPs are spineless cowards who didn't have the courage to listen to the truth, meaning vulnerable gender-nonconforming teens continue to have their bodies medically converted in the name of gender identity./2
Ontario has Bill 17 still sitting at second reading. This seeks to implement the Informed Consent Model of care which means removing the need for mental health professionals entirely from the diagnostic process - creating a transition-on-demand situation/3

🧵History repeats itself

The world of paediatric endocrinology is no stranger to medical blunders. It has one in its past that is eerily similar to the one playing out before our eyes today. It is the medical scandal of treating short boys and tall girls with hormone therapy./1
The experiment began in the 1940s, in the early days of endocrinology, when endocrinologists saw themselves as miracle makers. They had injected insulin into diabetics on their death beds and seen them rise and make a full recovery, and given arthritics mobility with cortisol./2
So when synthetic estrogen (DES) was developed & growth hormone (hGH) extracted from the pituitaries of cadavers, endocrinologists got swept up in the excitement of discovery and turned their focus to correcting the height of healthy tall girls & short boys, with tragic results/3

🧵: Charcot's hysteria and the epidemic of ROGD

In the late 1800s, a brilliant neurologist, Jean-Martin Charcot, triggered an epidemic of hysteria in women of the French upper-middle class. It is one of the best examples of the medical world's ability to shape mental illness./1
After completing groundbreaking research into MS and neurosyphilis, Charcot went astray and became convinced hysteria was an inherited neurological condition. He devoted himself to mapping it. In 1875, he reached his unified theory of the four stages of 'la grande hystérie'./2
Symptoms included convulsions, fits, paralysis, blindness, and hallucinations. But many women only began showing these after being admitted to Charcot's care at the Salpêtrière hospital. However, he was oblivious to the power of suggestibility in shaping his patients' symptoms./3

For any trans activists watching my account, let's get one thing clear: there's a conflict between women's rights and trans rights. This conflict won't be resolved by shutting down debate and screaming accusations of transphobia. No one cares anyway because the word transphobia/1
...is meaningless now. You've overused it. At this point it just means having a grip on reality and a basic understanding of human biology.

You may think you've won and the issue is settled, but you're wrong. The debate is just getting going here in Canada./2
You can't simply redefine woman to include males, removing our right to female-only spaces, and expect women to accept it.

And yes, that is what it means. It is logically impossible to maintain women's right to single-sex spaces while also allowing males into those spaces./3

🧵A thread about social contagions:

In 1972, British psychologist Gerald Russell treated a woman with an unusual eating disorder involving binging and purging. Over the next 7 years, he saw a further 30 woman presenting with the same condition./1
In 1979, he wrote a paper published in Psychological Medicine, in which he gave it the name bulimia nervosa. The condition was included in the DSM-III the following year. Then something remarkable happened. The illness swept the globe like wildfire.../2
..affecting an estimated 30 million people by the mid-1990s, the majority of whom were teenage girls and young women./3

🧵Thread of TRA logic:

I don't know what a woman is, but transwomen are definitely women./1
Transwomen are at risk of being assaulted, raped, even murdered in men's spaces, so let's open up women's spaces to men./2
Gender is fluid. Your gender can change from hour to hour, or with the cycle of the moon, but a teen's gender identity is innate and immutable so the only answer is to sterilise them and amputate parts of their bodies./3
