Jakurai takes a seat next to Hitoya at the bar. They exchange greetings ("It's been so long since college", etc) and order drinks (Islay whiskey on the rocks for Hitoya and grapefruit juice for Jakurai). They clink their glasses together before starting to talk. #hypspoiler

They both muse that even though they've known each other for a very long time, they haven't been able to hang out like this since middle school. Hitoya remarks that his working life so far has been pretty run of the mill, but that's clearly not the case for Jakurai. #hypspoiler

What with TDD, MTR, and his doctor work, Jakurai's out there making a difference. Jakurai agrees (sort of), saying that he's had a lot of experiences which can't be explained succinctly. As Jakurai's friend, Hitoya says he's happy about those experiences themselves. #hypspoiler

Jakurai then notices an attorney's badge (yes, this really is a thing Ace Attorney didn't make up) on Hitoya's collar and comments that this must mean Hitoya did actually give up his dream of becoming a doctor. Hitoya says that if he did, he'd feel like - #hypspoiler

- he would be spending his whole life playing second fiddle to Jakurai. Nonsense, says Jakurai. He's never thought Hitoya is in any way worse than him. Hitoya bitterly gulps down his drink and asks if that's the truth. Back when they were kids - #hypspoiler

Jakurai outdid Hitoya in EVERYTHING from schoolwork to sports. Hitoya worked his ass off to beat Jakurai, but was never able to do so. It pissed Hitoya off to constantly be in Jakurai's shadow while Jakurai didn't even appear to care. #hypspoiler

Jakurai protests. Results aren't everything... But Hitoya cuts him off. Results ARE everything, and the only reason Jakurai can say that is because he's always number 1 in everything. To Hitoya, being number 2 is the same as being in last place. #hypspoiler

Jakurai insists that it's the actions people take, not the results that come from them, that give people worth, but Hitoya brushes this off as pretty-sounding bullshit. Jakurai points out that Hitoya's come this far on his own and to deny that is denial of the self. #hypspoiler

Hitoya brushes this off too. He's not denying that he's done well as a lawyer, but the only reason he thinks so is BECAUSE he's second to none in the legal world. Jakurai looks amused and says, "Really now?" Hitoya huffs and continues drinking. #hypspoiler

As more time passes, Hitoya starts to grumble that it's not fair that he's never surpassed Jakurai even once. Jakurai asks him to stop talking about this, but Hitoya responds by listing two things he can't stand - bars that play classical music (like this one) - #hypspoiler

- and people looking down on him. But, Jakurai insists, he doesn't look down on Hitoya. Hitoya slams his drink on the bar and yells that from his perspective, that's what it looks like. He needs to beat Jakurai for his own good, so he yanks out his Hypnosis Mic. #hypspoiler

He reveals that he's going to participate in the next DRB and challenges Jakurai to a match before then. Jakurai, with a grim expression, insists that he doesn't like pointless fighting. Hitoya yells that this is exactly what he means by Jakurai looking down on him. #hypspoiler

What, is Hitoya not worth Jakurai's time? Jakurai insists that that's not what he means, and Hitoya yells back that it is! He abruptly gets up to leave, and Jakurai, distraught, follows him. Meanwhile, over at Fragrance, Doppo and Hifumi arrive to find a huge ruckus. #hypspoiler

But the ruckus isn't caused by any customers. The club is empty except for a pint-sized, swearing loudmouth and his anxious companion. Hey, it's the other two thirds of Bad Ass Temple! In the flesh! #hypspoiler

Kuukou: There you are, Doppo Kannonzaka!
Doppo: 😐
Doppo: Do I... know you?
Kuukou: Nope! Not at all! 😁
Doppo: I see...

Hifumi asks why they're terrorizing Hifumi's poor coworker, and Juushi says it's all Kuukou's fault for fighting with them. Nah, nah, nah, Juushi. Kuukou's a mirror into people's souls. If he fights with you, that must mean you want a fight. Get it? Juushi doesn't. #hypspoiler

At any rate, Kuukou's here because he wants to fight MTR. Why? Because that's how Kuukou rolls, baby! Hifumi's not sure what to do about this... fan...? Kuukou interrupts and insists that he and Juushi aren't MTR fans. They're MTR enemies! #hypspoiler

Juushi asks how come Kuukou gets to decide that himself. Juushi's not here to make enemies! Kuukou then asks Juushi how come Juushi's still being his usual sobby self even though there are strangers around. Oh, good point. Juushi straightens up and - #hypspoiler

- introduces himself as ✨ maestro of madness, warrior in the battle betwixt chaos and light, JUUSHI AIMONO!✨

Doppo and Hifumi have to take a moment to process before Hifumi asks if Juushi has a split personality. Kuukou confirms this and introduces them as BAT. #hypspoiler

With introductions aside, the kids pull out their mics and get down to the serious business of rap battling. Kuukou and Juushi rap first which knocks Doppo over. Seems like it's time to teach these kids a lesson.

Back near the bar, Hitoya pulls out his mic - #hypspoiler

- to judge whether or not this battle is as "pointless" as Jakurai says. His first verse throws Jakurai back into a chain fence. Jakurai retaliates, but he doesn't use his full power (I think) and Hitoya isn't knocked out. Hitoya tells him to stop holding back. #hypspoiler

Meanwhile, Hifumi and Doppo take their turns. The attack is powerful but doesn't knock out BAT. They're about to retaliate when just then, Juushi hears a siren. Kuukou, it's the police!! Eh, fuck it, says Kuukou. Police can't stop him! It's time to brawl! #hypspoiler

Kuukou's apparent powers of invincibility aside, Juushi doesn't want to get arrested, so he bodily picks up Kuukou and drags him from the club sobbing in fear.

Doppo, who looks like he hasn't slept a week: Uh...
Hifumi: Well, at least that's over.

Back at the bar, Hitoya pauses the battle midway and says they're done. Jakurai asks why as Hitoya turns to walk away. Hitoya says it's not worth it if he beats Jakurai when Jakurai's handicapping himself. Next time, he'll make sure Jakurai's fighting for real. #hypspoiler

And then he'll crush Jakurai where he stands. As Hitoya leaves, Jakurai slumps to the ground and mumbles, looking very upset, "The Division Battle, huh...?"

Meanwhile, in Chuuouku, Nemu looks concerned about something as well. A woman behind her asks if she's okay. #hypspoiler

Nemu is startled to see the woman there and asks her to knock before she enters. The woman doesn't respond to that and instead comments that the 4 main teams made it to finals last time. Nemu is surprised. This woman didn't know? No, she didn't really care. #hypspoilers

Her duties for Chuuouku had her doing other things. She flips through a folder with info on the men and stops when she comes across Hifumi and Doppo. What are they doing here? Nemu asks, "Do you know them, Honobono?" She giggles. Perhaps she does care now after all... #hypspoiler

The chapter ends on an image of Hifumi standing in the rain.
