The problem of Nigerian football across @thenff with the national teams and the @LMCNPFL with the #NPFL teams is the lack of professionals in key positions of teams. The @NGSuperEagles did not have the right back room and same with the clubs in the league. Football is science now
Football is no longer a game tied to just talent and luck. We need professional scouting of the opposition, full detailed analysis of our team's strength and weakness and same for the oppositions. There is an arrogance that goes with just banking on your talent and luck.
That arrogance, in on itself is the gateway to failure. It happened with our #NPFL teams playing every year on the continents, I saw it first hand with the Super Eagles in Cameroon. All the energies expanded on bringing politicians to do team talks, should be better invested.
Football banks a lot on scientifically generated data, statistics and then coaches tactics that is deeply rooted in the technical abilities and strength of your players, with a perfect understanding of positional discipline and tactical awareness. You can't win on talent and luck
When the best team in the group stage of a tournament like the #AFCON2021 is knocked out like we saw with the Super Eagles against Cameroon, it is not enough to just scapegoat Maduka Okoye and drag him. There is a deeper problem that needs to be looked into to find solutions.
Without have technical and detail details of your match opponents, is like Nigerian army trying to fight Boko Haram with any reconnaissance, no matter how strong that military is, they would walk into their own death because of the lack of reconnaissance.
One key element of the art of war is knowing your opponent and knowing their every move. America failed in Vietnam because they felt there was no need to know the "little" people of 'Nam and they paid for it, like the Super Eagles didn't care about a Covid hit Tunisia and paid.
I was trained to see a football game as war and tactics must be well fine tuned and ammunitions well oiled and primed. The game of football, is a game of margins like a well cut and sewed Italian suit. Half and inch too long and short and you have damaged the suit.
Working in a science lab is a life and death job, a moment lost of focus or concentration can go from creating a perfect product to blowing up a lab that might even kill or damage you. Super Eagles was among a few teams at #AFCON2021 with something as little as a GPS suit on.
Someone would say, what? Do you really need a GPS suit to win a game? Well, while you do not need it to win a game, it gives you exact and real time data of who is running and who's not. We are in an era where the game is way faster than the human eyes. Little things matters now.
This thread is not to blame anyone, but it is more of my subtle technical report from the stands. I grew up through the blame game in sports and I have come to the point where I know it doesn't change anything. So I chose to do things differently, Nigeria must be great.
The team with GPS suits can with clear data sit a player on the bench and the player would not begrudge anyone, because the data from previous games, clearly proves that they are not pulling in the right direction as others. That would save the coach, division in his camp.
Dear Nigerian elite and private sectors, you do not need to show up on match days to promise millions to the players, that you most likely would not fulfill. Some of the 2019 promises are still not fulfilled yet. Sign up the players professionally as ur brand ambassadors instead.
Look at every nation with a sustainable success at their snr national team, they all have a functional and effective league system. In the league, they deliberately, strategically and intentionally train coaches to train their players in the system and style of the national teams
We can lament, cry, wail and weep all we like, if we do not start being strategic, deliberate and intentional with our football, we would fire, hire, deploy and redeploy coaches back and fort but with zero result. Don't forget that in 10 years, we have failed to qualify for...
... 3 AFCON in 2012, 2015, 2017, won bronze in 2019 and got knocked out of the first ever round of 16 in 2022 for the 2021 edition. Yes Stephen Keshi took a rag tagged team to win in 2013 AFCON against all odds, maybe we will be "LUCKY" again next year in Ivory Coast.
Why bank on luck when we can pepper up and season our team properly with the best mix of science/tactics/analytics and players talents and the natural sheer strength of the Nigerian mind that we define as the #NaijaSpirit. Nigeria had the most talented squad in this #AFCON21
But talent and strength alone, without the right data and analytics with the right tactics is light sending out the best satellite that NASA can build without it guidance chips. The @NGSuperEagles and Nigerian football is that expensive satellite but there is no guidance chip on.
