The viral video of the 20 yr old woman being paraded with blackened face on the streets of Delhi is of a Sikh woman.

She was tortured, raped & beaten by the family members of a boy who took his life after she refused his advances.

The father of the deceased boy was amongst those who raped the woman as a ‘revenge’.

All the ladies of the family were party to this torture, they witnessed the rape, assaulted the woman & paraded her on the streets.

Even the children of the family took part in this torture.

If this what the state of law & order is in the national capital, imagine the brutalities that the oppressed section of the society must be facing countrywide.

The accused have been arrested but there is a genuine fear of them being let go off mildly because of their background.

The accused family runs illegal liquor & other businesses due to which they have close links with the ‘powerful’ elements in the administration including the police.

The victim is a poor Sikh woman whose father is paralyzed & she works random jobs to support the family.

The request is to use social media & other means for maintaining pressure on the authorities. The accused have committed a grave crime & deserve to be in jail for LIFE under the appropriate IPC section.

I hope that @mssirsa saab gets some time out of his busy schedule of praising Modi, Shah & their loonies, & uses his clout in the Sanghi party to actually help this victim.

Delhi intelligentsia came on the streets in big numbers to help get ‘Nirbhaya’ the justice she deserved.

We hope their hearts will bleed for this Sikh woman the same way.

I’m sure if Delhi had Sheila Dixit govt, multiple protests would’ve been arranged already against her.

Also, it’s clear which state needs the ‘Shanti March’ more than Punjab.

An hour after we all made this noise, finally @mssirsa saab tweeted about the incident.

It’s noteworthy though that he did NOT mention that the woman was a Sikh. He did NOT provide any details unlike he does when Sikhs are victims in states not ruled by BJP.

The details of this case are horrific.

If the accused in the case of the rape of this Sikh woman was a Muslim family, @mssirsa & his coterie would have made sure they were at the front & centre of the whole incident & gotten her speedy justice.

I guess the victim is unlucky.

For those asking whether the accused in this case are Sikhs/Hindus/Dalits - I don’t know. None of the ground reports covered it.

What we know is that they are PRIVILIGED. Before this incident, they had been already harassing the victim & her family. The police IGNORED the pleas.

Some handles like @kavita_krishnan had talked about the accused also belonging to the Sikh community but she has deleted her tweet & indicated that she’s waiting for the truth to be uncovered before making any claims.

Latest by @DelhiPolice. They have claimed that all involved are from the 'Bhedkoot' scheduled caste Hindu community - accused & the victim.

This is a snapshot from @themojostory’s coverage of this incident. The people standing behind the reporter are the family members of the victim woman.

Ground report clarifying few things:

- the victim woman is safe
- the victim’s family is safe & the residence is being guarded by the police
- DSGMC has arranged legal help for the case

Things to ponder:

1. The police was made aware of the threats. They are responsible for letting the situation escalate. Will heads roll? Will @DelhiPolice ever face consequences for failing to deliver & do their basic job?

2. Will the accused women face appropriate jail time?

Also, @DelhiPolice should refrain from distributing factually wrong info. It’s understandable that they want to avoid communal tension but there are other means to do so, including doing their ACTUAL job well instead of relying on lies & concocted stories.
