my business model will be to monitor my clients in their existing homes remotely with audio and video feeds to learn their ways then design for them a house perfectly fitting their true lifestyles
all will come to be judged, too. we live in a country of masochist neurotics
picked this up
also have A Pattern Language and A Timeless Way of Building sitting around
ALSO mean to finally go and read old @simonsarris posts
I'll blog about this more, mostly done traveling for a few weeks so may have a bit of focus time for that
any time you find yourself inclined to Support a Politician it can help to remember that some of the most important resources in politics are lists of email addresses of vulnerable elderly people who are milked for donations with nigerian prince tier emotional appeals
its not a matter of party this is just How Its Done
trumps campaign perhaps pioneered the now-common use of Nudge-like prechecked subscription boxes for monthly payments. you think an 80yo on social security is gonna notice that little checkbox
at the worst possible time really. couldnt have been worse if it were planned
even more than usual with death there is nothing i can do to make things remotely better. just have to wait for disaster to compound year over year, utterly powerless
i met him when i was four and he was five. we lived in the same apartment complex. he was on a balcony and i was riding a bike. he shouted "hello" and in the manner of preschoolers asked if I wanted to be friends. i was elated.
i had never had a friend before.
he moved across town but we kept in touch. even when he moved across the country in high school we managed some yearly visits.
he introduced me to magic cards, DND in elementary school. later on, FLCL, at just the right moment
signed into facebook to get a picture of my kid for work and found out a friend I've had for thirty years just passed
kind of shook
jesus. he has three kids.
extended family together and well off so they should get support. but god I can't imagine.
have to make some calls. and separately get a better life insurance policy.
i should have kept better track of him. it seemed like he was maybe having a hard time but ive just been so busy and i sort of figured his family was keeping tabs. and he had a lot of local friends I thought.
a supreme court that "looks like america" will be >95% earth by mass but substantially nitrogen by volume and have a surface that is 5% asphalt. good luck squaring that circle
"we mean look like the american PEOPLE" great idea. now more than half of the court is dead and one justice is literally retarded
"actually we specifically are demanding nominal representation on one or two axes that are well-organized politically and have substantial social power to force their will, unlike idk trees and babies who are political nonentities" thanks for clarifying this
various thoughts about the Actual Right in no particular order after listening to a bunch of @kaschuta podcasts. off the cuff and its late so i cant promise quality
1. im not part of the right. probably goes without saying
2. im not part of the right partly bc i am basically liberal in temperament and partly bc im deeply skeptical of joining anything. there are other reasons as well
3. liberals should consider open critiques of liberalism
4. more specifically i think liberalism is not doing super hot right now and it behooves everyone to really consider how the most successful governing framework in history has stumbled, how to get righted, and how to avoid fucking up again
