Top Freelancing Platforms to Land Your First Client πŸ’†

βœ… Yours

Freelancing platforms don't make money when you find a client.

They make money from you using the platform!

My experience + things to watch out for πŸ‘‡
1/8 Loggin hours, applying to jobs, doing payments through their platform.

You can still make money as a freelancer and be in trouble if you don't play by their rules.

They control their service fees.

The fees can range anywhere from 5% to 10%, until...
2/8 It happened at some point that a platform suddenly decided to double their rates from 10% to 20%!

If you just started out and already set low rates to stay competitive, this can be quite demoralizing.

But it's definitely far from the worst:

I'm getting this question all the time ⬇️

Hi πŸ‘‹
I saw job descriptions asking for lots of experience from candidates and thousand of skills.
I'll never be able to get a job in IT! What should I do?

here's my honest answer πŸ‘‡
1/4 It is a constant battle to decide what should be a requirement and what shouldn't:

a) If I put HTML & JavaScript as my only requirements I'll get too many portfolios.

b) If I put React, dayjs, stripe, axios, graphql, formik, yup I might miss out on great candidates!
2/4 Let's say you encounter b) and you have strong fundamentals in React & Front End development. Apply ASAP!

I'm sure you can learn the API of Formik or dayjs!

Make sure you have a portfolio showcasing your best work using the fundamentals of React & FE and apply.
