1. Hearing loss friends (and everyone else) I think we had a breakthrough yesterday evening at my sister’s party. I’m always banjaxed at any gathering and can’t communicate optimally. Millions can’t. #hearingloss#hearinglosshour@HearingLosshour@ActionDeafness@RNID
2. We were trying out a transcribing app which has a paywall for its more advanced functions. It was pretty good. I wanted to try it out ahead of the @LeicsComedyFest this month. One of our party made what I would regard as a paradigm shifting breakthrough. A true innovation
3 Using two ordinary smartphones he set up a Googlemeet and turned on captions. Bingo! I have this fear that everyone will pile in and say “yes, didn’t you know?!” I don’t think people do know, however, and I’m keen to get this round. Hoping someone will see this and continue
4 Pl leave a comment if you found this of interest and help us develop the idea. I’ve long found Google captions to be groundbreaking for me. But there must be others I don’t know. Audio podcasts are now accessible.
5. We need to spread these innovations more if it’s not already happening. I suspect that the tech itself and its spreading is happening at scale and pace but the people it could help are largely unaware. Or perhaps it’s just me. #deafness@ActionDeafness@RNID
