London police officers routinely made jokes about rape and disabled people and exchanged racist messages. The same ones who protected @BorisJohnson & his #DowningStreet 24-hour party people when others couldn't say goodbye to their dying loved ones. nytimes.com/2022/02/01/wor…
@BorisJohnson@metpoliceuk "said in a statement that the actions of the police officers in central London that the report detailed do 'not represent the values' of the force."
Yes. They do.
@BorisJohnson@metpoliceuk In one exchange, two @metpoliceuk officers talked about domestic violence, with one officer writing about women, “Knock a bird about and she will love you. Human nature.”
In another exchange, a male officer told a female officer, “I would happily rape you.”
@BorisJohnson@metpoliceuk The report said “the casual exchange & blasé nature of this communication indicates a culture where officers were comfortable to make these comments, suggesting it was part of a status quo rather than an exception to the norm" & "sent without fear of repercussion or consequence.”
@BorisJohnson@metpoliceuk Exactly like Boris Johnson and his Downing Street parties while the little people sat in their houses or died on ventilators.
@BorisJohnson@metpoliceuk One @metpoliceuk officer was referred to as "mcrapey raperson" because of rumors the brought women back to the police station to have sex & liked harassing women.
Officers joked about making dog food out of African children, called Somalis "rats." reuters.com/world/uk/briti…
@BorisJohnson@metpoliceuk Some of the messages were so obscene or offensive that news stories didn't include them.
"It has been clear for some time that there are problems with the culture of the Metropolitan Police," @pritipatel said in a cartoonish understatement.

@hugolowell "It is unclear how many records were lost or permanently destroyed through Trump’s ripping routine, as well as what consequences, if any, he might face. Hundreds of documents, if not more, were likely torn up, those familiar with the practice say." washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/…
@hugolowell A sr. Trump WH official said staffers frequently put docs into “burn bags” to be destroyed, rather than preserving them, & would decide themselves what should be saved. When the Jan. 6 committee asked for docs related to Trump’s efforts to pressure Pence, some no longer existed.
@hugolowell Trump “didn’t want a record of anything,” a former senior Trump official said. “He never stopped ripping things up. Do you really think Trump is going to care about the records act? Come on.”
