OK, so I think I've figured out exactly how this govt energy company ponzi scheme works (I'm using the #ThatchersBiggestLie economic model rather than the real economic model of #MMT as most people still believe a govt budget works same as household budget (a thread) 1/
and I Want to make this as clear to as many people as possible)
So, person A pays £200 tax to govt, Govt gives that £200 to energy company to "lend" on your account, person A then pays £40pa for the next 5 yrs PLUS the upcoming eye-watering increases AND VAT on top of 2/

the £40 payback. In summary, you are being 'lent' your own £200 which you will pay BACK to the energy company plus VAT. The energy company gets more than double what they would normally get and the government cons you into thinking they've helped you 3/3

Also to add "tax" in this instance includes VAT which falls disproportionately on the poorest in society so its not a case of workers paying extra to 'subsidise' those on social security/pensions - We will ALL be paying for these "loans" more than 2x over!
And don't expect Labour to highlight this con properly either, their plans depend on almost the same set up

Further analysis also shows university students, anyone currently renting where bills are included and anyone starting out on their own over the next 5yrs are going to be paying for a "loan/rebate) THEY NEVER EVEN RECEIVED as the £40 claw backs will be added to EVERY bill
Interesting twist - if the gas companies didn't SELL our gas supplies to the highest bidder abroad, they wouldn't need to buy expensive supplies & we wouldn't be looking at increases - we wouldn't need a 'loan' if it weren't for #CorporateMismanagement

#WongaRishi's measures are not aimed at helping the poorest in society but helping the middle classes (I have no issue with them getting help too but #WongaRishi has been selling it as help for poorest/all)
