Worth pointing out in light of #JimmyCarr: Netflix are still not under Ofcom’s jurisdiction, so you can’t complain to them about their content.

You can complain to Netflix directly, or you have to contact the Dutch Media Authority ‘Commissariaat voor de Media.’

Last summer there were some government plans to regulate Netflix, Amazon and Disney+. My understanding is that not much has moved on since then.

The issue is that if you complain to streaming services directly, there’s no real oversight. They can choose to listen or make a change, but its up to them.

The issue comes around every few years, the last case I remember being about 13 Reasons Why. There’s a lot of talk about offence and the need of Ofcom regulation, especially if the show contains British stars. Then we move on until it happens all over again.
