Many thanks @AlexWitt for hosting me from the mountains beautiful Utah today where I’m speaking at a medical conference. I offered on my opinion on where we might head next in the coming months…
The hope is that omicron continues to decline in the US as fast as it accelerated. So far that seems to be what’s happening but we need to be careful: after omicron began its descent it got stuck halfway down and still remains
And you have the situation in Denmark 🇩🇰 where the BA.2 sub variant is creating problems, so omicron and it’s subvariants could be with us for a while..
And then what happens after that? No consensus in the scientific community, some say we’ll have low grade endemicity before seasonal winter peaks. I think that’s a possibility but equally likely is that we’ll be hit by yet another variant of concern this summer especially in…
esp in Texas and US Southern states in July through September. The only real way to prevent this is to vaccinate the world and finally halt VOCs from emerging
Forgot to add got stuck halfway down in UK

Ugh, did Tucker Carlson go after me tonight on Fox News? Whenever Fox or their fellow travelers does that it’s often followed by a wave of aggression on the internet or worse, sometimes with antisemitic with Nazi images. Looks like they’re starting to roll in…
Interesting day:
This morning nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize
This evening under attack from political extremists because of a Fox News dog whistle
Today is #WorldNTDDay#worldntdday2022 in 2005 we wrote the first papers using the term "neglected tropical diseases" indexed in PubMed, creating a list of 12 diseases + opportunity to bundle them in a "rapid-impact" package of essential medicines that now reach >1 billion/yr
1/4 I have some concerns about today's White House announcement:
1. 400 million donated vaccine doses is nothing much to brag about, @biological_e and our @TexasChildren's Vaccine Center alone has already produced 250 million doses.
2. Lack of situational awareness that we need 6-9 billion vaccine doses for the African Continent, Latin America & Caribbean Region, and Southeast Asia.
3/4
3. By failing to vaccinate the world's low-income countries we should except another variant of concern to emerge and ultimately spread across Texas and the Southern US by this summer.
At a minimum this Wash DC rally makes clear the real nature of the antivaccine movement and their white nationalist and nazi leanings. If you have any doubts, here are some examples from 2021 (TRIGGER WARNING: Offensive beyond belief):
Early 7AM Eastern start @MSNBC tomorrow AM @LindseyReiser re: the tragic Sunday antivaccine rally in Wash DC rally led by ne’er-do-wells, mostly unaccomplished men who couldn’t organize their lives, desperate for relevance much as Hannah Arendt reported en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Origi…
This march tomorrow is a sanitized future of authoritarian totalitarian aggression in America, and we must recognize it for what it is, forces similar to January 6
And the fact that they’re working to destabilize our nation at the same time that Putin and Russia amass troops ordinance supply chains along the Ukraine border. These are not patriots.
I’m very concerned about this weekend’s antivaccine rally in Wash DC. It will be a culmination of growing ties between antivaccine groups + far right political extremists which really accelerated (1st here in Texas) about 7 years ago. See my attached links washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/…
