we are moving from a world of isolated individualism facilitated by corporate/governmental/religious ego feeding in exchange for capital and energy to one where one has to decide where they stand and where their energy goes amongst literally everybody else in the world

"decentralization" is a brainworm with as many upsides and drawbacks as centralization. the upsides are personal autonomy, ownership of one's own data (and migrate if your local cluster turns sour), and the ability to build into the system with relatively small startup costs

the drawbacks are disorientation, disorganization, and disappearing in a mass of people, a single vote among a thronging mass of voices still susceptible to manipulation, influence, and power games. humans will human.

many people will simply not know what to do. many of us (including myself) have been infantilized by extant power structures and expect to be told, or suggested what to do and how to do it and why. this will be a massive confrontation of the self versus the crowd: Leo-Aquarius.

I see so many people gleefully sure that all of those who have staked their time, intelligence, and resources into tech like blockchain tech are going to flame out, lose all their money, get scammed, etc. they gloat. they'll be about 10% right, and increasingly less so

simply bc because the old systems are shaking and people are fed up. many confluencing factors mean that people--good, intelligent, prudent people--will be pouring themselves into this tech. it's not going anywhere, and it will bring these themes of The Crowd like never before
