if you have ever watched hundreds of thirsty camels drain a man made, truck supplied reservoir in Central Somalia you would know that a lot of what passes for agriculture in the Horn is not sustainable. We have the same problem here. aljazeera.com/news/2022/2/8/…
Centuries of overgrazing, monoculture crops, supply side growers, population growth and poor management is killing land off, leaving it useless to humans for food or water. Here is a great depressing interactive map of what we are losing.wad.jrc.ec.europa.eu
We know we are screwed. Humans are greedy and selfish. Free stuff promotes growth. Fish, flora, fauna and forests will vanish. Yes, population growth will level off as nations become more affluent but how long can we live on Jim Bakker food buckets?
Food insecurity is not always lack of food. It can be lack of access to food, lack of logistics and even lack of crops. Sometimes local crops and farmers are clobbered by free food supplies donated by affluent nations. visualcapitalist.com/interactive-ma…
Another major part of food insecurity is lack of movement. Yes humans, like animals move away from hunger and towards food. Historically we get this concept but in the short term we prevent this natural flow from want to plenty. ca.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/inter…
Afghans, Somalis and other groups are often blocked from normal food supplies. It doesn't mean people starve en masse like in ancient China or Russia, it means that social engineering is not working. Many times corruption is involved as food and water supplies are monetized.
Note that stories about starvation in Afghanistan are about the foreign food aid system breaking down. Many nations rely on outside delivery of food which when stopped leads quickly to disaster not rethinking the system. theguardian.com/world/2021/dec…
Food aid is important but it also acts as a stimulant to dumping of staples by western countries as food producers dump excess in remote regions, often altering or supplementing local production. fao.org/giews/country-…
Afghanistan's population has dramatically increased. High birth and survival rates with better access to staples and healthcare has increased the population and demand. Drought, incompetence, collapse and a hostile relationship with the talibs don't hello. nytimes.com/2021/12/04/wor…
What do Afghans do when faced with life or death? They move. "There are 2.6 million registered Afghan refugees in the world, of whom 2.2 million are registered in Iran and Pakistan alone. Another 3.5 million people are internally displaced" Yes the problem comes to our doorstep.
Lack of food or water isn't simplistic. It binds the entire global population in a race of musical chairs. Who will be haves and what will the have-nots do to survive?. In an era of self centered survival we can only ignore global problems for so long. migrationpolicy.org/programs/data-…
We want to think that these problems are "over there" but they are also "over here". I suppose we could bath in Perrier. wri.org/insights/17-co…
I am not a global warmist since I think our problems are far more complex and far more deadly. In fact, increased temperature change is just one factor in many changes that are rendering parts of the earth wastelands and causing secondary problems. earthobservatory.nasa.gov/global-maps/MO…
In 2019, pre-Covid, humans worried about ISIS and North Korea hacking stuff. Then 5,722,468 people died. Well ok, at least they were right about Russia. pewresearch.org/global/2019/02…
My pick for biggest threats? Nationalism and Fuckery. Not looking over our fence to solve problems and not cracking down on malign actors who are exploiting our lack of sophistication in conflict. A recipe for disaster and we are going to get force fed the results. End of screed.
Do gooder's homework: Solve all these global problems and report back next week. intelligence.weforum.org/topics?type=Gl…

Latest cancel culture war is #JihadRehab in which a film about rehabilitating terrorists suddenly requires banning the film by people who haven't seen it. I remember when my in depth interview with John Walker Lindh meant I had "entrapped" him after bringing him medical care. Image
Greg Barker did a great doc about my interview and the story of Lindh in a film called Detainee 001. I suppose he could have used some of those culture cancel vultures to pump up the ratings. vulture.com/2021/09/greg-b…
The best part was when I finally returned from Afghanistan I was interviewed by news networks around the world. Here is Matt Layer trying to portray me as a terrorist sympathizer. Hey Matt... hows that news job working out?

Not a fan, but yes. Hilly's back with a vengeance. And with nicely done revenge merch.
I did a deep dive into the mythical Clinton Dirt. Hilly was a Luddite and there never were any juicy emails re Benghazi. It was a psyops facilitated by Bannon and Prince. That's why they met. But have a look at how the naughty NYTimes covered a non story.
Prince, who used to provide embassy guards before they murdered a bunch of unarmed civilians, got some scoop from a Canadian filmmaker who happened to be in Benghazi the day after. Suddenly it was Hilly's fault that no one came to their rescue. Not true. theguardian.com/world/2013/nov…

If you are watching Fox and Tucker rail on about Ukraine its worth remembering that Fox led the charge into the worst military debacle in American history. CBS is guilty as well. Fox showed the least carnage. cmpa.gmu.edu/wp-content/upl…
Carlson is literally saying that Putin is the good guy... just keeping his western borders secure. Putin doesn't care what Tucker says, but it's disturbing to see a U.S. news channel portraying NATO as the bad guy. An old Trump harangue. motherjones.com/politics/2022/…
The only thing stopping Putin from retaking all of post World War Russia...is NATO. A nervous America who didn't want extra U.S. casualties killing of the last of the Nazi war machine. So we traded much of Eastern Europe..not Western Russia.. to Stalin. nytimes.com/2021/12/05/wor…

1973: A tiny and fragile Roger Stone pays operatives to infiltrate the Democratic Party for Richard Nixon. Yes that's Paul Manafort on the right, back when he spun commie war lords as freedom fighters. dks.library.kent.edu/?a=d&d=dks1973…
America was consumed with the idea that a President would use dirty tricks during an election. Some of the insiders threatened to talk unless they were pardoned. newyorker.com/news/daily-com…
Stone was outed as a bagman, who would take cash from wealthy people and make things happen politically. worked for Nixon, then Reagan, then Trump. Remember. Stone is infamous for moving money. A Serial Bagman as he is described. here:propertyofthepeople.org/2018/09/07/fbi…

Good news. The Tinder Swindler just nuked the Tiger King by more than ten million uniques in the first week on Netflix. Now I won't have to pitch "The Tiger King of...." deadline.com/2022/02/the-ti…
Netflix is the Petri dish of "what people like" but there are many obscure and mainstream franchises they could keep mining... I am still waiting for TinTin2, Taboo 2 and the Kominsky Method 3, Maybe even some of the earlier series like Young Indiana Jones that failed on TV.
Now I have an awkward question. Since Netflix made bank on the misfortune of these ladies..shouldn't Netflix help with the financial mistakes that make up the heart of the story? washingtonpost.com/arts-entertain…

“Mr. Prince is separately under investigation by the Justice Department on unrelated matters, according to people familiar with the case. The scope of that investigation is unclear.”
