Hold up. I just heard in a very popular podcast that if we aligned with Russia before Hitler invaded Poland we could have stopped it.

Wtf?

The Soviets were allies with Hitler before Germany invaded Poland. It was a betrayal which is why Stalin positioned itself against Germany
Do people really not know this? Do people really believe that Stalin was the good guy? Seriously?!

Wtf are people being taught?
@Timcast please correct this because the last thing we need now is to continue to be ignorant about and revisionist when it comes to history of ALL forms of radical collectivism. And btw…I’d love to know what the person who made this comment who comment on Yalta.
The person saying “if we aligned with Russia (the Soviets) before Germany invaded Poland is like saying if we aligned with the Nazis then maybe the Soviets wouldn’t have killed so many people. Come on. Really?!

Remember there was dance before this that had centuries as part of China. As one of the three olds it was destroyed and reformed into this during the Cultural Revolution.

Now think about the art the majority of people see. Then think about the art that
has been all but destroyed but even darker think of the restrictions and betrayal done to audiences and those who create or innovate.

What do you think is going on? And why are we allowing it and/or behaving as if this is not a crises?

The two are intertwined. Always is.
Art is dangerous, but not because of politics. It’s dangerous to politics. Art unshackled from politics is what is dangerous. It’s also something which humanity has not had access to in such high numbers ever before. This is what made postmodern art’s promise so exquisite.

I had no idea how poorly people have been exposed to symbolism or taught about it or discovered it until a few months ago.

The use of symbolism in art and story is not only vital it’s not binary.

It’s also not *only* universal.

We are destroying this way of communicating
ideas across time and distances and I didn’t realize how both fragile and young and inaccurate I was regarding how imbedded understanding symbols and story was in our species.
I thought it was as deep as these things could go. I was wrong. This is a target of the last two years and honestly? We are losing this “battle.” I also think if we do, ultimately? It’s the only thing that assures we lose the “war.”

There are gonna be a LOT of people wishing they’d not been so cowardly. They’ll wish they had at least not joined in the mob mentality and derangement that has been manufactured to turn the non compliant into an enemy. Why? Because think about how we judge those images of Nazis
or Bolshevik thugs or fascist green shirts either joining in or cooperating to hurt fellow human beings because they, at best, indulged their shadow natures. Now imagine how future generations will view them, or maybe you - and how you’ve behaved on video, on twitter, on FB…
We have seen how cancel culture has dug up the most innocent or innocuous thing and spun it into a weapon that destroys lives.
