THREAD: Since @POTUS announced his commitment to buy 1 billion COVID-19 rapid-tests and deliver them to anyone who wants one, we’ve designed our distribution program with equity at the center.
COVIDTests.gov was designed to be fully accessible and we continue to improve its usability every day.

You can also call 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489) to order and get help in English, Spanish, and 150+ other languages — every day from 8am to midnight ET.
Additionally, @ACLGov’s Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL) Line is available specifically to help individuals with disabilities order and use their tests.

To reach the line, call 1-888-677-1199, Monday-Friday from 9AM to 8PM ET, or email DIAL@usaginganddisability.org
When it comes to processing and delivery, @USPS is prioritizing orders from ZIP codes of high socioeconomic vulnerability —communities that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 — to ensure those most in need of tests are receiving them as quickly as possible.
Our Administration also worked with community-based organizations to ensure that hard-hit communities were prioritized during the launch and roll-out of COVIDtests.gov. We will continue working with these groups to help people order tests and keep their communities safe.

THREAD: Today, President Biden is traveling to New York City with Attorney General Garland to announce new actions to continue executing on the President’s comprehensive strategy to reduce gun crime, which he announced in June 2021.
@POTUS will be joining a meeting of New York City’s Gun Violence Strategic Partnership – a coalition of federal, state, and local law enforcement officials who work together to take repeat gun violence offenders and weapons off our streets.
AG Garland and @TheJusticeDept will work with state and local law enforcement to expand strategies like the Gun Violence Strategic Partnership nationwide, and add personnel to help curb the flow of illegal guns sold in the South and found at crime scenes from Baltimore to NYC.

In July, President Biden signed an Executive Order to promote competition to lower prices for families, generate fairer wages for workers, and increase innovation by companies.

Here are a few updates on our progress ahead of @POTUS’s meeting with the Competition Council today:
.@POTUS's Executive Order announced support for the “right to repair" products. Since signing, @FTC announced a policy of greater enforcement against illegal repair restrictions. Now companies like Apple and Microsoft are making it easier for people to fix their electronics.
2. .@US_FDA proposed a new rule to make it possible for hearing aids to be sold over the counter without a prescription. This change is expected to lower the cost of hearing aids from thousands of dollars to hundreds of dollars — and let people pick them up at a local pharmacy.

Utilizing funds from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, states will be able to repair and replace crumbling bridges that cost their communities millions of dollars each year.

Here are a few examples of those bridges:
Built in 1933, this bridge spans the Abernethy Creek and serves an estimated 10,100 drivers each day. This small, aging bridge is at maximum capacity and is not high enough to be a reliable evacuation route during floods.
This small, rural bridge was built in 1925 and is used by local farmers and ranchers. The bridge is deteriorating and needs replacement.

Our administration is moving on clean energy projects to help deliver affordable, carbon pollution-free electricity nationwide. New actions include:
1.@Interior is holding a record-breaking offshore wind lease sale – the most lease areas ever offered – off the coasts of NY & NJ.
2. @Interior, @USDA, @DeptofDefense, @ENERGY, & @EPA will improve clean energy project reviews to expand solar, onshore wind, & geothermal energy on federal lands.

3.@ENERGY will accelerate deployment of new transmission lines to connect Americans to cleaner, cheaper energy.
4. To ensure benefits reach all Americans, @USDA will run a pilot program to support clean energy in underserved rural communities. Using Rescue Plan funds, @CommerceGov will help regional coalitions grow new industry clusters focused on clean energy deployment and job training.
