President @realDonaldTrump: "Last night, at my direction, the United States military conducted a successful operation to rescue an American hostage in Nigeria, kidnapped just 96 hours earlier.
United States Special Forces executed a daring nighttime operation to rescue their fellow American with exceptional skill, precision, and bravery. No United States Service Members were harmed. The former hostage is currently in good health and has been reunited with his family.
Securing the freedom of Americans held in captivity abroad has been a top national security priority of my Administration. Since the beginning of my Administration, we have rescued over 55 hostages and detainees in more than 24 countries.

"Every year, China dumps millions and millions of tons of plastic and trash into the oceans, overfishes other countries’ waters, destroys vast swaths of coral reef, and emits more toxic mercury into the atmosphere than any country anywhere in the world.
China’s carbon emissions are nearly twice what the U.S. has, and it’s rising fast.
By contrast, after I withdrew from the one-sided Paris Climate Accord, last year America reduced its carbon emissions by more than any country in the agreement.

"We must hold accountable the nation which unleashed this plague onto the world: China."

"In the earliest days of the virus, China locked down travel domestically while allowing flights to leave China and infect the world.

China condemned my travel ban on their country, even as they cancelled domestic flights and locked citizens in their homes."
"The Chinese government and the World Health Organization—which is virtually controlled by China—falsely declared that there was no evidence of human-to-human transmission.

Later, they falsely said people without symptoms would not spread the disease."

President @realDonaldTrump: "On this very day in 1787, our Founding Fathers signed the Constitution at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. It was the fulfillment of thousands of years of Western Civilization."
"Our Constitution was the product of centuries of tradition, wisdom, and experience. No political document has done more to advance the human condition or propel the engine of progress."
"Yet as we gather this afternoon, a radical movement is attempting to demolish this treasured and precious inheritance."

President Trump signed a memorandum yesterday to hold local politicians accountable for refusing to protect their communities from riots, lootings, and mass property destruction.
Federal agencies will identify what funds are provided to Seattle, Portland, New York City, & other jurisdictions that have allowed violence, lawlessness, & property damage to persist—and will determine what authorities are available to withhold these funds if and when necessary.
Where permissible, the Administration will restrict eligibility for certain Federal grants until these jurisdictions take the necessary steps to protect their residents.

Our Nation is great because of the courage and character of its people.

Meet the incredible individuals and families that are President @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS' special #SOTU guests:
Janiyah Davis is a 4th grade student who loves art and math, but for too long she has been assigned to low-performing schools.

Pennsylvania’s governor recently vetoed school choice legislation, and Janiyah remains one of 50,000 students on a waitlist for tax credit scholarships.
Ellie Schneider was born at just 21 weeks and six days—one of the youngest babies to survive in the U.S.

She kept beating the odds, exceeding milestones, and fighting for life.

Today, Ellie is a healthy 2-year-old who brings endless joy to her mother, Robin & her entire family.

The media has gone the extra mile this week to prop up Adam Schiff’s "dazzling" performance and bury his dismal track record. A look back:
❌ Beginning in 2017, Adam Schiff claimed multiple times that he had seen evidence of collusion with Russia. The Mueller Report exposed that as a leftwing hoax—so Schiff moved on to Ukraine.
❌ Adam Schiff tried to obtain compromising photos of the President that never even existed. He was duped by Russian pranksters.

Today marks the culmination in the House of one of the most shameful political episodes in the history of our Nation. Without a single Republican vote or any proof of wrongdoing, Democrats pushed illegitimate articles of impeachment through the House of Representatives.
House Democrats blatantly ignored precedent, conducted the inquiry in secret, selectively leaked to media allies, and denied the President fundamental fairness and due process. Their articles lack any support in evidence and fail to describe any impeachable offense.
Democrats have lost sight of what this country needs: a Congress that works for the people. Their boundless animus for President Trump fuels their desire to nullify the 2016 election results and improperly influence the 2020 election.

NEW: The U.S. and China have agreed on a trade deal that requires structural reforms to China’s economic and trade regime in the areas of intellectual property, technology transfer, agriculture, financial services, and currency and foreign exchange.
The deal also includes a commitment by China to future purchases of U.S. goods and services, plus—very important—a strong dispute resolution system that ensures prompt and effective implementation and enforcement.
The United States has agreed to modify its tariff actions on China, but will maintain 25% tariffs on approximately $250 billion of Chinese imports and 7.5% tariffs on approximately $120 billion of Chinese imports.

Headlines this week: The US has “the world’s highest rate of children in detention,” per reports about a UN study on migrant children detained at the US-Mexico border.

Then AFP and Reuters retracted & removed the story. Not because the data was false—because it was from 2015.
Read that again.

The story wasn't corrected. It wasn't updated.

It was removed—as if it never happened.

Why doesn't the UN study matter anymore? We all know the answer. Donald J. Trump wasn't President in 2015. Barack Obama was. This story had the wrong villain.
Even more incredible: As of this moment, the NY Times *still* has the original Reuters story published on its website, with no correction, calling out President Trump for "inhuman" policies while neglecting to even mention President Obama.

For something that happened in 2015.

For decades, the United States has suffered the severe and dangerous consequences of illegal immigration. And for decades, Washington has broken its many promises to fix it.

It's a system where smugglers win. Cartels win. Gangs win. And LEGAL immigrants and US citizens lose.
The American taxpayer pays an extraordinary price for this lawless chaos. Far, far worse is the terrible and preventable loss of life. Some of the most deadly and vicious gangs on the planet thrive in the shadows of our broken southern border. It's time to cut off their lifeline.
Sadly, Mexico has allowed this situation to go on for many years—and it has only grown worse with the passage of time.

Mexico’s passive cooperation in allowing illegal migration into the United States constitutes a genuine threat to America's security and the US economy.
