Today marks 10 years since we started our intracortical BCI trial in Pittsburgh @PittTweet & @UPMC_PMR. We would like to thank Jan for her dedication and contributions to research and for being an inspiration to so many. She is truly a pioneer! 🦾🧠🦸♀️

We are so proud of what the field of BCI has accomplished in the past 10 years, at RNEL, at many other universities, and in industry! This has been a long journey and it is great to see the field continue to expand. We can't wait to see what the future of BCI looks like!

Some highlights of what we have learned & accomplished in the last decade at RNEL:
- High-degree of freedom robotic arm control 🧠🦾 doi.org/10.1016/S0140-…
- First in-human microstimulation of somatosensory cortex to generate tactile sensations 🧠⚡️🖐️ doi.org/10.1126/scitra…

In 2016, our participant Nathan was even able to demonstrate our closed-loop BCI to @BarackObama 🤜🦾. The past decade has been a wild ride, and we cannot wait to see what the next 10 years of neural engineering brings us!
