I'm a big fan of ppl having the right information in order to grow & do better but more importantly -knowledge is power.
Currently we have a colossal gap when it comes to knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and it has resulted in the development of resources that could do more harm than good.
I have a personal plea for my friends that are parents of school age children.
When looking to sign up your child for after school clubs/activities, half term camps or any setting where you are leaving your child there in their care.
1/?
**Request to see a copy of their safeguarding policy**
Every single setting should have one, but sadly those that really require constant updating to keep up with the times are those that haven't been seen for years!
2/?
Just by asking to see it you are reminding them to update it, you are showing them you're aware and engaging in the safeguarding of you child, you are having a positive impact on raising the bar of safeguarding in your local community. The positive ripple effects are vast.
