Hi everyone. I'm standing by for a municipal update from the mayor at 2pm on the blockade. Follow along for updates.
Still waiting for it to start, but you can watch live here: cbc.ca/1.6346185
Flavio Volpe with @APMACanada, Brian Kingston with CVMA and Rakesh Naidu with the local chamber of commerce are also on the call with Mayor Drew Dilkens.
Dilkens: The city is seeking an injunction to end this demonstration.
Says, these individuals are trespassing, and if need be will be removed to allow for crossing across the border.
Mayor still hoping for a peaceful resolution.
Planning on being before a Superior Judge on this matter as soon as possible.
Says this is a "national crisis."
Asks anyone considering to join these protesters to "think again."
Says they've "gone too far."
Says healing can only begin once the bridge opens to international traffic.
Flavio Volpe, Brian Kingston and Rakesh Naidu all stress the need for a swift resolution given the tremendous toll this is having on the economy and local businesses.
Naidu: "The blockade is pushing several businesses over the edge."
Dilkens: Says an official request went out asking for RCMP and OPP support.
Province responded immediately. More OPP coming.
Going to make sure we have the right amount of people to enforce injunction.
If demonstrators don't comply peacefully, other measures will be taken.
Says he's confident a judge will be able to hear their application today.
Dilkens stresses that police will always try to negotiate for a peaceful resolution but, it's made more difficult by this being a "leader-less" group.
Not clear yet when police would officially "move in" should demonstrators not respond peacefully to the injunction when/if it's granted by the court.
