Totally possible for education polarization to decimate elite public universities in purple or red states like UW-Madison. Would be an incredible own goal - these institutions are economic engines for whole regions and create all kinds of knowledge & human capital spillovers.
Politicians in another red/purple state looking to blow up their world-class public universities and all the benefits they bring to the workforce and economy of the state for short-term political gain
I really hope this is true but it's one paper, p=.02 with largest outcome added after preregistration, main result uses a post hoc combination of measures, and acknowledged sensitivity of results to differences between groups. Let's wait and see.
Universities have
-faculty/staff who are NOT boosted 18-22s w/no health risks
-part of communities that include many people are NOT boosted 18-22s with no health risks
(Also lots of students aren't boosted - new policies just starting.)
I find bizarre the way liberals on this bird site deny/downplay that Ds have moved left politically - echoes of denials that many elite institutions have moved left on race. These are just obviously true statements. We can argue about magnitudes or effects but denial is strange.
All can be true:
-Rittenhouse's reckless decisions resulted in a situation that left three people dead
-He benefited from his race in countless ways
-A lot of commentary is pushing a simple narrative about the events and law that can't withstand scrutiny persuasion.community/p/the-rittenho…
Obviously typo above, two people dead and a third shot but not killed
