@Nike has to get this initial brand-building right in order to compete with other apparel brands @adidas in this metaverse blue ocean
If done poorly, e.g see this as a short-term cash grab & not value-add to supporters -> lose battle for metaverse share of mind & potentially IRL
If they can successfully value add for holders, they'd have an army of crypto-natives that will support them in the verse + IRL. Non-crypto natives are also likely to FOMO into the Nike-verse.
The Space & LOOT Pods are a virtual space for holders to express their individuality by decorating it w/ NFTs they have collected.
People regard IRL houses as an extension of themselves - PodX is the metaverse equivalent.
So now, holders not only flex their clone but also their decorated space on social media. This in itself, is already super beneficial for @Nike's brand.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE...
#CloneX & #PodX owners aren't the only participants - @Nike has opened doors for DESIGNERS to enter!
They are creating an opportunity for artists to build a brand in the budding space of "metaverse interior designers"
No one knows what the MNLTH is for yet and that's the beauty of it.
Instead of the regular "revealing XX on YY date", they opted to gamify the experience by building suspense & requiring the community to solve a series of quests
Additionally, they've created an AR filter on @Snapchat & are reposting users' stories on @instagram - marketing on all 3 platforms effectively.
I'm unable to tabulate the total no. of people using this filter but am sure you can understand the network effect.
@Nike & @RTFKTStudios' efforts are definitely going down in history as a genius & successful transition from social media -> metaverse marketing. I'm so glad I'm able to participate.
The bar is set so high and I find it difficult for other apparel brands to top this
