What is wokeness? It is the self-perceived awareness of issues that concern social and/or racial justice, combined with a feeling of moral superiority. The term "woke" is now used as a pejorative like "MAGA" is used as a pejorative, for very similar reasons.

In the core of wokeness is the identity of being aware of things other people are not aware of. While others are still asleep, woke people are awake. This is the key. It's not about "just being a decent human being", because being a decent human being is not enough.
Indeed, in order to be woke, you have to be more than a decent human being. You have to be the very vanguard of virtue, better than everyone else. This is why woke people keep inventing new grievances because if everyone's aware of the same things, the Woke lose their identity.
It's also important to understand that wokeness doesn't actually have much to do with social justice. It's mostly about power. Social justice is simply the perfect shield for questionable deeds ranging from shameless power grabs to cancel culture. Justice justifies everything.
It's also about identity. How do you bully and treat others like shit without feeling bad about it? How do you get people fired from their jobs for breaking rules that didn't even exist 5 minutes ago, while calling yourself "just a decent human being"?
With a woke identity. That's how. Ends always justify the means when you're woke. You're incapable of any wrongdoing because everything you do, you do for social justice. That's why so many woke people are outright sociopaths because wokeness allows them to bully with impunity.
So when someone asks "What's wrong with being woke? It's only about being aware of social injustice", you can ask them why anyone would ever oppose MAGA. I mean, it's only about making America great again, right? Right?
